Ivy Tech LPN Program Fall 2010 Deadlines?

U.S.A. Indiana

Published

Hello...I'm finishing up Pre-Reqs in A & P 102 in spring semester 2010 and will be completed by May....but want to get in the LPN Program Fall of 2010...Im wondering if Im going to be too late on the app deadlines?!

does anyone know if that is too late to get into the Fall 2010 Ivy Tech LPN program? :chuckleI was kinda confused when reading the criteria for admissions. It has a deadline, but I hate to wait until Spring 2011 to try and start! UGGG!

Anybody who may know? thanks so much!!

I believe you will be fine since the Summer semester is between your classes ending and the Fall start....However, I'm not sure if you will have to submit your grade to the Nursing Dept or if they will automatically pull it after the spring semester is over.

Hi...

Yes, you will be fine. I too am finishing up pre-reqs with A&P 102 next semester and since there is the summer semester in between we will be able to apply for Fall start dates. I am applying for RN and probably LPN too, both at Indy...

As far as submitting your grades - from what I understand we will have to manually take them in to the office ourselves once the grades are final.

All classes finished before the application deadline are used. They go by points A =30 points B= 20 points C= 10 points. If you haven't finished the class, they can't give you points.

They will 'wait' for grades from the spring semester when you've applied for Fall. That means that if you are taking A&P 102 in Spring 2010 (finishing it in May 2010), then Yes you can apply by April 1st 2010 for the RN or the LPN programs, to start in Fall 2010. If you finish all pre-reqs by the end of summer, you can apply by Sept 1 for Jan. start. But, if you are taking any pre-req during a Fall term, you could not have applied by Sept for Jan start--you have to wait to apply by April for the next fall start.

check your campus nursing office, at Valparaiso Ivy Tech they will not "wait" for grades. at least they didn't for about 30 of us who had applied for fall 2008 and had to wait for spring 2009.

Really? That stinks! I thought the policy for when you can apply/finish pre-reqs was a statewide policy. I guess you do have to check with the campus you want to apply to!

I know it! We were quite upset, but eventually came to understand. They can't place you by points you may or may not get. I think they should change the application deadline dates to better accomodate the students.

Wow that's really odd they did that in Valpo. I would think it would remain consistent throughout the regions. But at least you got in!!!

In everything I have read (for Central Indiana, Lafayette, Kokomo, Bloomington) it says that the official verification for grades must be submitted by May 16th; even though the actual deadline is April 1st.

I'm an instructor at Ivy Tech and asked the program chair. She said that, no, they do not wait for grades, they take what you have when you turn in your app, or that is what they are supposed to do anyway.

yes, but at the same time understand that deadline dates are set to accommodate the planning that must be done for each class. It's no cakewalk for instructors or program directors. Be patient.

I guess it all depends on who you talk to because when I went to the information session in July they said it was fine...

As long as your pre-req's are completed with a semester in between the start date of the program you are fine. Also it states in the information/application packet that spring grades must be turned in May 16th, even though your application must be turned in April 1st.

More conflicting information lol!!! Wow I guess my advice would be to go speak with someone directly, that is what I plan to do anyway.
