Ivy Tech Fall 2011 Waiting on THE letter

U.S.A. Indiana

Published

I've been reading "allnurses" for several years, never thinking I'd reach this point. So, I never registered. However, after 2-years of night classes the dream of nursing might become a reality. Now, the wait for acceptance/denial begins. It's all come to this point for many of us.

Several years ago there was a forum where people were waiting on THE letter. Why not have one for the folks waiting on 2011? If there IS one I missed it.

We're all in the same boat, all waiting on the letter, and wondering if there was a minor detail overlooked. Was the score high enough? Did my transcript fall through the folder, then get swept under the desk? (That one woke me up last night) In my case, my brain can handle the wait...my stomach/intestines are not doing so well.

Thought this might be a nice thread to vent, support, and otherwise worry with each other for the next couple of months. Near as I can tell, it's going to be 74 days, give or take, before we all know....one way or the other.

Best of luck and keep prayin' I know I am! :)

"They said they had a lot of applications,.......really?? So did all the other campuses and we had to have our applications in by April 1st, so.....2 months must not be enough time!! lol"

Yes that's funny considering that Indy probably receives the most applicants and they got their letters out in a timely fashion. I mean let's be real what's the point of having a deadline almost 2 months before you put out the letters, yes I understand about the grades for that semester need to be turned in but why not make the deadline further down, towards the end of the semester? It doesn't make sense to me

Yah, it cracks me up! I can't do anything to change it, so, I'll just keep waiting........................

ladytee2010, keep your hopes up, according to the Ivy Tech message board someone received her letter from Lafayette today. She said her score was around 185 and she was invited into the ASN program.

That would be 185/190. That score would have gotten them in anywhere.

Got my acceptance letter from Lafayette ASN program!! :nurse: Can't wait for orientation :) Good luck to all those who are still waiting!

What was your TEAS score?

What was your TEAS score?

I had 4 A's and 80% on my TEAS

well to all of those waiting for openings at the Fort Wayne campus i know of 3 that will be up for grabs in the next few days...my friends and i chose Kokomo over Fort Wayne...Good Luck :D

Faypha...I'm SO sorry about your third denial. After all these months I feel like all of us would have gotten along well in school.

This is the first chance I've had to get to a computer. And I got to tell ya, my stomach is STILL in knots. Got the big envelope, said a prayer, and opened it. Started off with a "pleased to inform" which looked good...then read "ALTERNATE" in big letters.

So, now what? Manditory meeting on July 8th, but who knows if it's a waste of time. Will they call the day before classes start? It's not fair to my current employer to lead them on like this...

In a way it would be nicer to have a yes/no. Somehow, I got a maybe...:uhoh3:

Rhubarb I would take the alternate spot for ya! :) I have a feeling you are getting in there and that is the place you wanted the most! You finished with 164.5 right? I had 161.5 and did not get a letter for the alternate! So close yet so far away! I am going to be doing the PN at Kokomo and hopefully I will do well enough to transition. Just not what I had planned. But I should know by now after having my first (and only baby) at 34 years old after eight years of fertility meds that it is not what I have planned but what HE has planned for me. Congrats to you! I am very happy for you and this must be the plan HE has for you so you must know it will all work out!

Faypha....you have a nice way of knocking someone over the head. You're right. I hit a 165.1 and that might just do it. Too close for comfort, though.

Read on one of the message boards there might be 15 alternates for East Central Region. The lowest score I could find for Indy was 167.3, so I was close to that one at 165.

It's just so weird. I thought "at least I'll know this week....good or bad, put the toys away or get them out." Now, it "Limbo time....

I truly am sorry you're not on the list, though. A good friend of mine had a 160 and had heard she was going to get in...and not to worry. Of course, this was in early March before all the scores were in. I feel bad for her, today.

I truly believe God has a plan for our lives. When a friend of mine was struggling in class last year I said, "you know, I don't know if God has plans for me to be an RN...maybe, His plan is for me to help you be one..." I still believe that. We all make differences in peoples lives every day. It's up to us to determine if we are helping or hurting.

@ waitingonnothing, I was going to go there but i didn't score high enough on one of the sections missed it by like 3 points and that was my second time taking the Teas so I would have to wait another 6 months to take it at Harrison, I really wanted RN at Ivy Tech or Harrison, but I know for sure I am not getting into Harrison and after reading a person's scores who were higher than mine and got denied by the same three regions I applied to, there's no hope there either. So I will do J. Everett Light for their PN program. And then go to Ivy Tech's transition program.

Congratulations to everyone else that got accepted!

By the Grace of God I am on the alternate list for Lafayette! With 161.5 points. RhubarbJ this means you are in! Congrats!
