Nurses Career Support

Published

Hello all prospective nurses,

If anyone has questions about IUON or living on the island, send me a message and I could help you with life on the island, the good restaurants, transportation and the course work. I graduated from IUON and attended an affiliated school in Kentucky. I took my boards in September and I currently work in the ICU in a new grad program. Just leave me a message if you guys have any questions.

Don't listen to this person. The school actively pays people to write positive things about IUON on this website and facebook. This place is a disaster and should be avoided at all costs.

Well all, its not a huge surprise but they are planning on shutting down the nursing program. Really it was a front to build the adjoining medical school and not impinge on their non-compete clause with the med school they created and sold on a near by island a few years back. In the mean time they really managed to ruin a lot of lives.

Don't move to this god forsaken island unless you want to get mugged or rapped by a local. If your into getting stabbed and getting "hissed" at this is a great destination for you.

Haha, listen to the first person. This school is a joke and the KY student is most likely being paid by the school to say good things about it. Move on in your search for a nursing school. Your answer is certainly not here.

Ya, this place is out for your money and nothing else. You are a fool if you come to school here.

Wow New Yor, sorry you had such a "bad experience". I was NOT paid to write anything, I just went to the school, liked it, and thought I would share my experience. Maybe your attitude ruined your life, not IUON? I'm a nurse now, with a great job and nothing but good memories of my time on the island....

I finished at IUON and Im currently at Purdue. Unfortuanately I agree with new yor.

I am currently attending IUON. I will say there has been some headache with some of the aspects of the school, but it a great opportunity. I have learned skills interacting with the local community that I feel has great enhanced my nursing career, and would not have been able to have if not going to this school. It is a hard adjustment coming to a new island, but I feel that it is worth what you will gain.

I was not paid or asked to write this message.

Think twice about going to IUON, heard they don't care about their students. Check with Cali students that have been there, lots of negative feedback. Why paid for school that aren't willing to help? If more than 3 students that got back saying it's a bad choice it's bad. They can't keep instructors and if they do they belong to the islander Not only that I heard at the same time the school is having such a hard time trying to keep a Dean. I heard the most negative things about this school than any nursing school in the Caribbean. What a waste...

Why are the same people bad mouthing IUON without any actual reasons. The only person with substantial claims, and "evidence" is Scuttles. If you are going to be hateful and tell everyone to stay away from this school I would love to see your reasoning.

I believe that nursing school is what you make of it. I am not going to St Kitts because I want to party and drink. I want to travel and get another country's perspective. I will be starting in September 2010 and I can't wait. Everyone in all aspects has been totally helpful with getting everything in order.

I am transferring to Morehead state university and then through them I am studying abroad to IUON.

Clearly their are a few disgruntled students out their. The faculty at IUON are all appropriately credentialed and most have teaching experience in the United States. If you go to their website, you will have a complete listing of the faculty and their credentials. Their has been very little faculty turnover. As far as a Dean goes, whats most important is that they are experienced and appropriately credentialed. All of the Deans at IUON had been previous Deans at either a US or Canadian nursing school.

I also applyed to IUON and waiting to hear form them. I only have 2.5 do you think they will take me?

Did you get accepted?
