  1. hey mayycate. leave me a private messaged so i could get back to you. the system won't allow me to leave you a private message.
  2. hey pumpkin, i attended a school abroad for my first year at WWW.IUON.ORG and then an affiliated school in the states for my second year. There was no waitlist, the school is a little pricy but I finished in 20 months. I thought it outweighed the cost and the time of waiting around to get into a program. I graduated last August and I am currently working in the ICU in a new grad program. Let me know if you want information about the school.
  3. After the first year in the states, you complete the second year in the states. You get the degree from there, and the U.S. school is accredited. The bulk of your nursing classes and clinicals will be in the states. I applied to the CA board of Nursing and there was no problem sitting for the boards. The cost of the program is about $6,000 per semester and the ADN program is 5 or 6 months depending if your pre-reqs have been completed. I did my loans through Sallie Mae, I do not what other companies you can get your loans through. The majority of my classmates went through Sallie Mae as well.
  4. Besides the tuition you're going to be need about 5k per semester for rent and food. The program is very difficult and if you don't put the time in every day it is very easy to fall behind and fail. Half of the people I started with ended up droping out or failing out. I felt very prepared in my studies and in clinicals. I passed the boards on the first try and I am currently working in the ICU in a new grad training program. Let me know if you need more information with anything about the island or transportation or where to eat. Joon
  5. I went to the International University of Nursing in the Carribean and did my second year in Kentucky for my ADN. There was no wait list, if anyone is waiting a couple years to get into a nursing program I highly recommend going there. You get the chance to travel abroad and I finished in 20 months. The teachers are great and the school is brand new. www.iuon.org I'm from California and instead of waiting years to get into a program I went this route which worked out. I now work for Kaiser in the ICU in a 6 month new grad program. Leave me a message if you want more information about it.

  8. hey i graduated from iuon and the affiliated school in kentucky last august. let me know if you have any questions about living on the island or the course work.
  9. i am at one of the affiliated schools in kentucky. i had a real good time over there on the island, met some real good people and now I don't have to be sitting at home waiting to get in a nursing program. send me a message and i can show you some pictures of the island.
  10. yah i attended IUON for my first year and now I am currently in Kentucky for my next year. Private message me with any questions you have, I am more than happy to help you out.
  11. i guess crime is a problem, but crime is a problem anywhere. you just have to be careful just as in any big city such as new york or los angeles. the good thing about the school is that we have a small number of students and the staff is here to help you with any problem you may have. you can take your pre-reqs before and be here for 2 semesters (8 months) as i am. i have been here for 5 months now and i enjoy being here. the students come from all over the states and we have all became good friends. the best thing about this program is that you can start right away and finish in less than 2 years. i know in the states it take years to get in a nursing program and here you can just come and get the schooling out of the way. its a big sacrifice coming here this far and leaving home but its far worth it in the end.
  12. hey all, i go to IUON. Its a real school and after you do a year here you do a year in the states. The only affliated schools that are open now are west kentucky technical community college in kentucky and seminole state college in oklahoma. both of these schools are accredited and after completion you will have obtained you A.A. degree and are allowed to sit for the NCLEX. There are no schools open in Texas but there are talks about other schools that should sign on in the next few semesters.
