ITT Tech?

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Have any of you looked into their ADN program? It is new in Michigan this year; however, Indiana just had their first graduates, or are getting close to graduation.

I took the HESI at ITT Tech in July. I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear something. If all goes well, I plan to start in September. :yeah:

One drawback is the cost. Another is that nothing you take here will transfer. That's something to condider if you are young and may eventually go on to obtain your BSN. Me? I'm in my 40's now. No chance of getting my BSN.

Please post if you know anything about this school, or if you were one of the many who took the HESI here. No waiting list. Score high enough on the HESI and you're in. The caveat is that they are only taking 30 students to start. I plan to be one from the initial class. We should hear something this week.

Yes we are..Rocks and Minerals..what does that have to do with nursing? And in our nursing class we are doing med term and some things out of our nursing diagnosis handbook.

I went to the nursing seminar yesterday and applied at ITT. I'm scheduled to take the Hesi A2 on Feb 8. I'm very excited about the program and the opportunity. I just hope I do well on the exam. I am also in WV, Kayla. I have my ASMBC but it's just not enough for me. I've wanted to be a nurse since I was 5 so I think it's time. I just hope it works out.

The only ITT is in Huntington..right? That's where I go.

That is correct! I live in Milton. :)

I live in Wayne County! lol

Awesome!

Questions...if you don't mind :)

Have you incurred many out-of-pocket expenses for the program yet? I know they told us Monday that we are responsible for uniforms, travel & lodging for some clinicals, etc...

Also, they mentioned that we are responsible for our own health care insurance during the program. Is it a requirement?

I also read on here somewhere about a particular dress code for the program. Have you encountered that? I ask because they did not mention that.

Sorry for all the questions. You offered so I'm taking you up on it...lol.

Thanks!

Elizabeth

I don't mind. I haven't had any out of pocket expenses yet, but I do know about the things you mentioned. I don't think there will be clinicals that are way too far so I wouldn't worry about the lodging thing. It's not a requirement to have health insurance, but if you get hurt you can't turn around and blame it on the school. The dress code isn't applicable to the first quarter, but in the second quarter we start labs and we just need to wear professional scrubs. From then on until clinicals (in the 4th qtr) that's all we need. If you have any more questions I would be happy to answer!

Thank you, Kayla!

Now all I need to do is pass the Hesi A2 with a high score...lol. I really want this. I realize it's going to be a lot of hard work and dedication and I'm totally ready for that. I have the support of my family and friends. I want to do this not only for myself but for my husband and our four wonderful children. They're my world and well...they're expensive...lol. I need a career and one that I will enjoy.

I understand! Actually my husband is also in the program, so we get to go through it together! We both got lucky enough to know the material thats on the Hesi! Hope to maybe meet you soon!

That is wonderful! You both have awesome careers to look forward to!

I have had 5 years of college already and have my ASMBC so I know most of the material as well. It still makes me nervous...lol. I also bought a study guide but it's different from the one they offer at ITT so I'm hoping that doesn't make a difference.

Another question for you...

What is your schedule like? ----- told us that it would be Wednesday & Thursday morning and Friday (9 - 11 am or 1 - 3 pm). Of course that would change the further we go into the program.

Yea that's our schedule now..Wed9-1 Thurs9-1 and Friday 9-11 and 1-3 for nursing.

I was pretty well set on ITT tech but a few things have been bothering me. I was going to go ahead and have my fafsa sent to them but couldn't find their federal code. Then I came across this article that said that in california ITT tech got in trouble for "enhancing" student GPA to be eligible for financial aid, now I'm totally leery. I just don't understand if they do fin aid then why isn't there a school code?
