ITT Tech?

Have any of you looked into their ADN program? It is new in Michigan this year; however, Indiana just had their first graduates, or are getting close to graduation.

I took the HESI at ITT Tech in July. I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear something. If all goes well, I plan to start in September.

One drawback is the cost. Another is that nothing you take here will transfer. That's something to condider if you are young and may eventually go on to obtain your BSN. Me? I'm in my 40's now. No chance of getting my BSN.

Please post if you know anything about this school, or if you were one of the many who took the HESI here. No waiting list. Score high enough on the HESI and you're in. The caveat is that they are only taking 30 students to start. I plan to be one from the initial class. We should hear something this week.

To all you old people who went to school thousands of years ago when getting into nursing school was much easier, stop hating. Stop trying to discourage people from trying to do something with their lives. They chose that pathway for their own personal reasons. You might think your helping but you are certainly not. I have seen horrible nurses who went to community colleges and great nurses who went to a private school. Basically, you people who went to community college did the same things that the itt tech students are trying to do now. You went to the community college because you wanted to get into something easier and faster than a four year university or you could not even get into a four year university. You wouldn't like it if a four year university nursing program says dont go to community college because their nursing programs are no good and Wait until you are smart enough to get into a real school. You would not like that would you? Encourage instead of discourage. I have heard plenty of people from universities or employers who look down on community colleges. So if you dont like that dont do it to others. Everybody's situation is different. To those students who are starting the itt tech program. Im proud of you!!! Remember its not the school that makes a great nurse!!!! So obviously these nurses who r posting these bad posts here are not happy with their own lives and decisions and have to find a website to talk about people. Bye and have a great day to all. HELLO EVERYONE,

I JUST RECENTLY TOOK THE HESI AT ITT (ACTUALLY ABOUT 5 DAYS AGO). I DID VERY WELL ON THE EXAM. MY OVERALL SCORE WAS A 92.55%. BUT I AM STILL DEBATING ON WHETHER I WILL START IN MARCH AS I PLANNED. I ALSO HAVE THE OPTION OF GOING TO WISCONSIN FOR A 19 MONTH PROGRAM AT A SCHOOL CALLED BRYANT AND STRATTON. I LIVE IN CHICAGO BY THE WAY. AND THE ITT TECH SCHOOL HERE IS IN ORLAND PARK. I HAVE GONE AS FAR AS TO SEND ALL MY TRANSCRIPTS TO BS AND WILL BE TAKING THE TEAS TEST SOON FOR THEM. THEIR CLASS STARTS IN MAY 2011 BUT I WOULD BE FINISHED BY DEC 2012. IF I GO TO ITT I WOULD START IN MARCH 2011 AND FINISH IN MAY 2013. I AM ALREADY A LPN WORKING FOR THE PAST 7 YRS SINCE I GRADUATED. I KNOW THAT ITT IS RIGHT HERE WHERE I AM BUT THE COST OF THE PROGRAM (APPROX. 60,000) IS WHAT IS BOTHERING ME AND THE LENGTH OF TIME 27 MONTHS. I WOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY THAT MUCH BECAUSE I DO HAVE ALOT OF THE GENERAL EDS EXCEPT THE GROUP DYNAMICS (WHATEVER THAT IS) AND ETHICS. I ALSO DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO UPROOT FROM CHICAGO AND GO TO WISCONSIN TO SAVE 20000 BUT I MAY HAVE TO. BS'S PROGRAM IS ABOUT 36000 BEFORE TRANSFER CREDITS AND AFTER I TRANSFER IN MY STUFF I WILL BE PAYING ABOUT 22000. SOUNDS A WHOLE LOT BETTER AND I WOULD FINISH SOONER. I REALLY NEED TO FIGURE OUT WHICH SCHOOL I AM GOING TO.

Hello Everyone one... last time I posted was June 2010, seems like so long ago, much has happened! To keep it short, I got accepted... whoo whoo!! I'm most definitely doing the happy dance and will be starting school on Dec. 6th. I took the HESI in July, I didn't get accepted for September, but it worked out the 2nd time around. So all those trying to get in, don't be too disappointed if the 1st round doesn't work out. Just FYI: I got a 96 on my math, 92/93 on reading/writing and 86 on comprehension I think.

Anyhow, through orientation, registration, etc I've already met lots of great people and nursing students who have been trying to following the process in community colleges and it just is next to impossible. The staff of ITT have been helpful, welcoming and letting us know they are there if we need anything, ever. Free tutoring in ALL subjects, the campus is open Mon-Saturday, one on one instruction is available and all classes are within an indoor building and hallways. ITT is a private school, thus they conduct themselves as such. We have to wear certain uniforms for lab & clinicals, and dress clothing for lectures. No blue jeans are allowed. I am so excited, I'm going to work super hard and learn to be the most skilled and personal nurse that will be out there by 2013!

Bigdude and Anne 36, have you really done your research? Do you think it's the type of school that makes good nurses? I disagree. Your negativity on this board is discouraging for those who really want to better their lives. I think it's the effort that the students put into their work, the personality and dedication to being a good nurse that does the trick. Yes, it's more expensive but you know.. Time is Money and we are going to get more personalized attention at ITT then a public college. We don't have years and time to waste while we play games on getting into a pre-req A & P class or the nursing program. Plus our "tuition", includes admission fees, ALL books, supplies, tool kits etc. They only out of pocket we have to pay is our scrubs.

So anyhow, good luck to all future ITT nursing students!

Strawberry, as much as you may not want to uproot yourself from Chicago to Wisconsin it may be a good idea. Specially if you will be saving 40,000 by doing so. I know that moving can be hard, time consuming and downright irritating but it will be worth it in the end. Besides, once you're done with the program if you wanted to you could easily move back to Chicago. Give it some more thought but make sure you weigh all your options and think about what is best for you overall.

Congrats! My husband and I both got into the ITT Tech Nursing Program here in WV! We go to our orientation Tuesday and class starts Wednesday! Just wanted to let you know that your post is exactly how I feel. Alot of people get on here and try to discourage us but I am not going to let it get me down. Keep me posted on how your first day goes!

itt tech is not regionally accredited so your credits will never transfer anywhere. if you don't have what it takes to get into a regionally accredited institution then i don't think you have what it takes to work as a nurse. on the bright side, i doubt you will actually kill anyone!

I doubt BigDude is like he may be saying what he is saying because of the reputation that ITT tech has or maybe he has had problems with a similar institute. I personally think these schools have become a problm with nursing and the abundance of nurse graduates without jobs. So many of these schools have been staring to have nursing programs that the job market cannot adjust to the amount of graduates that are being pumped out. Even though nursing school is as hard asit is to get into I think thats better in the long run because of the job market.

I understand any of you getting upset about the negative posts because if I was a student there I would as well. I just feel there are many frustrated students on here as well as new grad's. I know when it comes down to it whether you went to ITT Tech, cc for your adn or BSN we all have to pass the NCLEX and if ITT does that then thats all you need. People may be concerned about that-a student working so hard through ITT tech's program and then they have prepared you sufficiently. How would the student feel? After all that money and time.

I think you guys have to understand that ITT Tech just doesn't have a good reputation with the public, I even know someone that had a terrible experience there and felt very betrayed and he wasn't even going for nursing or anything medical. My point is you have to expect criticism when going there and hopefully you guys and your fellow students can help their reputation although attacking people on posts here doesn't seem to be very helpful with that.

seems like iluvpatho is a little upset too!!! actually i have heard alot of good things about the program and how they prepare their nursing students. The bad stuff you here is about some of their other programs. And it is not even all the programs or all the campuses. That fact the matter is they have new state of the art nursing labs and equipment, probably better than most community colleges. The nurses will have more hands on experience before they even step into a hospital. And that is not even including the clinicals that they do while they are in school. The nursing directors are Doctors and the nursing teachers are either nurse practitioners or RN who have been doing this for a while. Go check out one of nursing labs and the program for yourself before you start talking about a program. Thats your problem you only repeat what someone has says. Will there is alot of people on here that say the program is great. So does that mean it is? Another fact is in the next twenty years when all the baby boomers retire there will be about a 300,000 shortage in the US. Look up in the labor statistics. The only reason there is not one now because the hospitals are hiring alot of nurses from other countries. Go look in your local hospital and see how many philipino nurses there are. And they went to nursing school overseas. So how do you know there school prepared them properly. So if you are reporting all the bad stuff, report the good stuff too!!!! Should I believe all the bad stuff they say about you iluvpatho!!!!! So if you want to give good advise atleast give a good one.
