  1. Hi Steener77, I'm Larina - who are you??
  2. Some of you were asking if I started and that is a big Yes! I began classes in December and while my head has been spinning with all the homework, papers and reading I am absolutely loving and very grateful to be able to continue on with my education! The school is serious about making the most out of your education and give you plenty of work and material to learn so don't kid yourself, if you are thinking about going and that it would be "easy". If you want to be a fantastic nurse, then you don't want "easy" anyhow! Congrats to my fellow classmates who got in and see you soon!
  3. SummitAP, Like lovejen I have also done a ton of research on the ITT Nursing program, nationwide and in Portland, OR. I have spent since July researching, after frustrating, getting nowhere years at Clark College of Vancouver. Also like Lovejen, I am also a single parent that believes time is of essence and after seeing the professionalism, the strict guidance and rules that ITT PDX provides I have no doubt in my mind that they will come out of Candidacy status and become approved by the time I graduate March '13. Yes, I was accepted (on my second try) and started today! They can offer the same program, degree and opportunity as any public college. More and more employers will see this. However, rather than wasting years, using up all the fin-aid money/resources I decided time is of essence and to get my Clark college credits transferred and move on. So if people want to spend more time trying to get into a public community college for the same degree as ITT, then I respect that. However, SummitAP your last post was insulting to those who feel that this is their best road in becoming an RN. You stated, "If ITT is the school that takes the people who couldn't get in anywhere else" LOL LOL. Actually, it's more like for people who are motivated and get what they want, instead of wasting time. I laughed at your quote rather than becoming insulted..but I wouldn't recommend making a statement you know nothing about for future reference. What do you care? As for risking our dreams and family, again that falls on putting your life on hold.. while you beg, and wait in line and literally have to earn "points" just to try and get into a nursing program. I choose NOT to do this and just get on with my life and NOT risk my dreams and family. Like Lovejen and my other classmates, we will become fine RN's with the one-on-one instructions, tutoring, and 6 days a week open campus. We will do this now... NOT later! So in 2.5 years, rather than 4-8 years, we will be able to work anywhere in this country as RN. So congrats to all my fellow class mates who got into ITT, a private school and will become some of the finest nurses known! It's not where you get your education, it's how much effort you put into it and how much you learn. Yours Truly, webgrl
  4. Congratulations Steener77!!! Whoo whoo. :yeah:I suppose we'll meet soon, if not in class. What is your 1st name?
  5. Hello Everyone one... last time I posted was June 2010, seems like so long ago, much has happened! To keep it short, I got accepted... whoo whoo!! I'm most definitely doing the happy dance and will be starting school on Dec. 6th. I took the HESI in July, I didn't get accepted for September, but it worked out the 2nd time around. So all those trying to get in, don't be too disappointed if the 1st round doesn't work out. Just FYI: I got a 96 on my math, 92/93 on reading/writing and 86 on comprehension I think. Anyhow, through orientation, registration, etc I've already met lots of great people and nursing students who have been trying to following the process in community colleges and it just is next to impossible. The staff of ITT have been helpful, welcoming and letting us know they are there if we need anything, ever. Free tutoring in ALL subjects, the campus is open Mon-Saturday, one on one instruction is available and all classes are within an indoor building and hallways. ITT is a private school, thus they conduct themselves as such. We have to wear certain uniforms for lab & clinicals, and dress clothing for lectures. No blue jeans are allowed. I am so excited, I'm going to work super hard and learn to be the most skilled and personal nurse that will be out there by 2013! Bigdude and Anne 36, have you really done your research? Do you think it's the type of school that makes good nurses? I disagree. Your negativity on this board is discouraging for those who really want to better their lives. I think it's the effort that the students put into their work, the personality and dedication to being a good nurse that does the trick. Yes, it's more expensive but you know.. Time is Money and we are going to get more personalized attention at ITT then a public college. We don't have years and time to waste while we play games on getting into a pre-req A & P class or the nursing program. Plus our "tuition", includes admission fees, ALL books, supplies, tool kits etc. They only out of pocket we have to pay is our scrubs. So anyhow, good luck to all future ITT nursing students!
  6. I've posted on here earlier this year before asking for input and information on ITT Tech new nursing program in Portland, OR. After doing MUCH research and looking at my needs I decided to proceed. I took the Entrance required HESI exam in July 2010 for the September Quarter, unfortunately I didn't quite make it in.. I was 3 down on the wait list. Today however, I got the most exciting wonderful news that I was one of the 30 students chosen to start classes Dec 2010. :dncgbby: OMG! I am doing the happy dance, so grateful I no longer have to go through hoops, and tricks and wait lists of trying to get into the community college here. The college credits I've taken so far, math, English, etc will transfer to decrease a little bit of the cost of tuition! I think negativity against ITT is uncalled for, it's all about personal preference. If you are younger, don't have a bunch of family, kids and life commitments to worry about than of course you can afford to wait years to get into the public college. If you are like me when you are in your thirty's, have kids and a life going on.... THIS is the option (if you can past the HESI) to go. So for all of my fellow future classmates or soon to be ITT nursing students, Congrats! By 2013 I will be able to take my NCLEX and work as a RN. Oh, and yeah.. their credits will transfer to selected schools if desired to pursue the BSN degree.
  7. I was wondering when they would make a decision on who will go in... I'm sure you will get in with a 94!! :) But yes, I understand about waiting and having to put other plans on back burner. Lots depend on it, for example work and the family. I was taking classes at a community college but now that I've found this program, I've pretty much put that on hold. Oh well, I'm sure it will all work out. I hope to get in Sept., but December would be ok too. Thanks for all your suggestions on the Heisi exam parts. I will most definitely review the book and make sure I understand as much possible. Did you go for your financial aid appt? Or I guess that would be after they decide if you start this September right? Well, keep me posted on what happens this summer and I wish you lots of luck!!
  8. Hi Crazytmogirl... Congrats on doing well on the exam! Funny to meet someone here from PDX campus. I could've taken the Heisi exam earlier but I figured this would give me more time to study. I'm not really too worried about it, but plan to review the book as much as possible. Any tips for taking their exam?? I'll keep in touch, and you too!
  9. Hi... I agree with Kourtnie11. The quick entrance into ITT's nursing program, which allows you to graduate with AAS & take the Nclex exam totally outweighs the cost. Most RN jobs I've researched states education requirements: as required by RN license. I'm in my mid thirties and a MA/x-ray tech. I never plan to return to school once I become RN, but I went to a seminar at ITT a couple days ago and I was impressed by the info provided and was told locally, they do have 3 different contacts with known, local colleges/universities that you can transfer their credits to get your BSN, one even being completely online. I'm speaking of the Portland, OR campus btw. I'm taking my Math/English Heisi exam on July 8th. I'm so excited!! I hope to be chosen as one of the 30 students to start this Sept. 2010. Webgrl74
  10. I'm new to this board, as I've been doing some research in the last week about ITT tech nursing program. I'm currently a MA, been taking a few classes at a local community college... lots of obstacles there. Long wait list for classes, weird registration dates, and almost impossible to get into nursing program although it's my dream and I love working the medical field. So I just recently found out that an ITT nursing program has opened and I'm going to a seminar in 2 weeks to find out more. The ITT website has already provided me quite some information, and you too if interested. I noticed earlier "Snobud" said that ITT won't tell you tuition cost, etc. This isn't true, if you go to the website and find the PDF file of the catalog & admissions info it's all right there in black and white. I'm excited for this possible opportunity and not having to wait years to begin... which paying slight a little more $ = priceless. However, I will continue to read reviews and get other people insights, particularly current ITT nursing students.
