so i'm triaging this bipolar girl with a sore throat and onstar called me in the triage office with a patient coming in r/o anaphylaxsis. so listen for me on the onstar radio commercials. i'm a superstar!!!! and i'm thankful.

Well I was scheduled but D/T low census they asked if I would mind beign off but on call? uh NO! I can handle that, so far so good and it is 7a-7p so 3 hours and I am golden!

Me too! YAY!!!

Yesterday evening I wouldn't have given myself a ghost of a chance of getting cut today........for some reason a whole bunch of folks seem to have thought that now was a good time to come in with abdominal pain and vomiting, and we've been admitting and doing surgeries right & left. The tide began to turn just a little last night, however, and evidently it's continued, because the super was saying she didn't think she'd have ENOUGH staff for the holiday, and then today there must have been a mass exodus, because there were two people ahead of me on the request-off list and I know they got cut before I did.

Now I've got FIVE days off, to get my Christmas decorating done, start getting my cards out, and to enjoy my home and family. I could use it.....it's been hell these past two weeks, both the census and acuity levels have been very high, and these shifts have really been kicking my butt. Nice to have a break. :)

I have to work tonight in L&D, I wonder how many women are going to overindulge and think they are in labor because of a full stomach :rolleyes:
