My "brain", stethoscope, 4-color Bic pen (I get hysterical when I think I've lost this), alcohol wipes, flushes, pen light, highlighter, roll of tape, and a few 4x4s.

As a side note, am I the only nurse who doesn't like diet coke?

Specializes in geriatrics.

No. I can't stand diet coke either. I'm really not a soda fan at all, but diet coke has a terrible after taste.

Specializes in ICU.

A New Testament bible, toothbrush/paste, wound measuring tape. Assorted OTC meds. 3 different kinds of scissors. Tons of pens in every style. An eye chart. My badge. Eclipse gum. Actually, I have never used the eye chart, but always have it with me.

I drink the Diet Coke that's made with Splenda. It's way better and doesn't have that nasty aftertaste. Though after my recent dental misadventures I think I'd better switch to coffee.

Sigh, this thread is making me miss Diet Coke. I used to pack 3 cans in my lunch bag (with a spare or two in my locker) but have recently decided I need to quit. I love the stuff, and have drank it for years (since it hit the market). I do still occassionally get it at McDonalds... Is there a better tasting fountain Diet Coke anywhere?

I don't really need the caffeine to stay awake on nights, but I do have a cup of coffee or two now during a shift because it makes me happy.

Sorry, back on topic... I wanted to add that now that we have fancy computers-on-wheels, there is a drawer on the contraption that can hold all kinds of goodies - keeps my tops looser since I don't have my pockets stuffed...

Dunkin Donuts iced coffee. Also a hoodie or scrub jacket or something to keep warm at 3AM. Why do I always feel like they shut off the heat in the hospital at 3AM?!?!

Specializes in Obs & gynae theatres.

My lip balm, a bottle of water and a pen.

Specializes in Geriatric.

Stethoscope, scissor, highlighters of different colors and lots of pens!

Either chocolate or Coke. My inhaler since about the time I leave that at home something triggers my asthma at work. My stethoscope as the ones at work are either terrible or are missing the earpieces. Penlight because otherwise I'll be stuck using a big flashlight if I have to do neuro checks. 3-4 pens which I have swiped from my bank (everyone at work agrees they write the best). Oh, and bandage scissors since all the good ones at work disappear and you couldn't cut your way out of a wet paper bag with the ones that don't disappear.
