Hello everyone. How is everyone. Been awhile since I've posted, been drowning in A&P studies hope everyone is well!! I wanted to know if I am the only one who has ever done this. I started attending college at a community college close to my house, then I started doing research found another shcool not to far but the Nursing Program requirement were much less than first school I was attending. So over the summer I took all the classes I had to take at other school just so I could get on their waiting list, WHICH I AM NOW!! So in the meantime I went back to my other school which is closer and cheaper too finish the rest of my pre-req. I need one class to get out of the way this winter.. Life Span Development I searched for it offered online and found it at another school which the credit will transfer, My question has anyone ever taken classes all over as long as you know they will count towards your program and are transferrable. I am just trying to get done as fast as I can and with two kids work full time it's hard to attend school more than 3 times a week. My girlfriend thinks it's weird or something to do all I am doing like finding classes that will fit my scheadule like this. I don't know maybe I am, just want to elimate some classes for this summer.

I see nothing wrong with it at all. While I was in Nursing school I was also enrolled with the local community college and taking telecourses through them, simultaneaously. As long as the credits transfer, go for it.

I've taken classes at three different schools in the past year alone. I don't see a problem with it, as long as you can explain why, should you ever need to. Mostly for me it was a situation of which schools offered the classes I wanted at a time I could fit into my schedule. Do what you have to do, I say.

I see nothing wrong with it. In fact, congrats on being able to do it. My school goes on a point scale and if you transefered anything in, you did not get a point for it.
It's a private college and very expensive so I can see why :stone

I'm going to two colleges right now, one online course through DCCCD and the bulk of them at my community college. When I applied to DCCCD Telecampus they had a big ole check for "just attending temporarily, a student of another college." (paraphrased) The one online is because I wanted something to do with my time over the semester break, and the traditional courses offered during "Christmas Mini" at my CC are too time intensive on campus during those few weeks.
In fact the college I want to transfer to (from a local CC to a 4 year state Uni) has a write up in their catalog that it's perfectly fine to attend the local CC and their classes at the same time and encourage it. I thought that was pretty neat and very education minded of them (encouraging students to get the courses they need at the lowest price possible), but maybe since it's not private and a state school they can afford to be cool about it. After reading their thoughts on it I did kind of wonder if other schools discouraged people from going to various colleges at once. Maybe they don't make it a policy so much as do like Jess' college and discourage it when possible.
I know my CC awards extra points toward their ADN program if you take your sciences there, so that would discourage someone from taking courses somewhere else and then just applying to their program out of the blue I spose...UT Tyler just goes by GPA though, which makes more sense if they are encouraging people to take CC classes when possible.
My wandering point is that it's not *weird* to take classes via different colleges at the same time, but watch out for being put at a disadvantage for the program you are applying for.

i think if you're able to handle the course load without infringing on others & juggle your life around it...and it works for ya...why not go for it?
good luck ~ cheers,

Thank you for all the replies. I am just trying to get all the classes out of the way before I start nursing school. Isn't NS still full time even if you do finish all pre-reqs. How is it going for you?? Do you have any type of life while in NS? Is it how everyone says it is, very intensive. I am finding A&P so difficult lots of work , but I am pulling a B in it so far!! I have a question for everyone
The school that I am on the waiting does not require Microbiology or Nutriton, do you think that is odd? Every other school I have seen for NS requires those classes, I am wondering if i should still take these?

I'm not sure if you've looked into it or not, or how community colleges work, but some schools don't allow you to be enrolled in another school while you're attending. If it's allowed, go for it. Hope that helps.

I attended several schools while earning my Bachelor of Science degree. There were a couple of classes that were full at my school, so I took them at other schools to get them out of the way. As long as all of the credits are there, it generally doesn't matter if you earned your credits from multiple schools. Be sure to check with your school, though, as they will probably require that you earn a certain number of credits from their institution before they'll issue you a degree (even if you have earned enough credits overall).
Good luck! :)

I attended 5 schools in one semester for 20 credit hours during my pre-req days! G
