Is This Gre Score Competitive?

Published

I just took my GRE yesterday, only got Verbal 460 and Math 790. Since my gpa is not impressing, i really want to show a distictive gre score while working hard to retake some science classes as they have been more than 10yrs already.

Do i have to retake it? How much do you guys get to enter the program? any input is appreciated.

thanks

The 790 is impressive! Verbal usually needs to be over 500 but that is sooooooo close. How much did you get on the writing portion?

Not sure I would take it over. :twocents:

Yes. Very competitive. I would not take it over. Some programs are different than others, but many view the GRE as a mere "formality". Simply another hoop to jump through to study anesthesia. I think personal drive and critical care knowledge rank far superior to GRE score. Just my :twocents:. I also know several SRNA's who got in with a cumulative GRE score that looked really similar to your math score. Hope this helps.

Don't retake it you're fine. The verbal may be a touch low. But anesthesia program are more interested in you quantitative score anyway.

Good luck!!!

yeah totally... you don't have to re-take it. I just got a 340 on the verbal (english is not my first language) and 650 on the math. since im a foreign grad i needed to take the TEOFL too and got a 108/120. but hey I got in... VCU fall 08! yipeeeee! If i can do it, you definitely can do it! goodluck!

Did anyone take a GRE prep course? If so which one? Also what is considered a perfect GRE score?

Thanks

Pretty sure 1600 is perfect. I got a 520 verbal and 640 quant and was told at my interviews that my scores were good to great, so I think you'll be just fine...and no, you don't want to do that again! Good luck. I did get in at multiple programs by the way. But as has been said many times before, stats aren't everything.

Your scores looks great....460 may not seem impressive but if you compare that to the national percentages I bet it is at least at the 50% range...When I took the GRE in June the 50th% mark was at like 450....Don't sweat it.
