Is it possible to get a job at CHOP?

I really want to work at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I work nearby and I love the area. I'm not a nurse but I'm studying to be a nurse and I want to start at CHOP to get my foot in the door. Every nurse that I know that works at CHOP appears to be happy. It seems so hard to GET IN. Is it possible to work at CHOP?

Not necessarily indicative. I had a shadow day...did patient care...really got along with the nurse I worked with and she seemed to really like me. Everything seemed great, but I didn't get the job. (Fortunately I have other interviews, so I am not too nervous), but yea. Also they sent me the "rejection" email at 10:30pm on a Tuesday night. Not cool...but good luck! It could very well mean that you got the job! I am probably an exception, not the rule!

That is all kinds of cruel!!! Best of luck in your continued search :)

Hey all, sorry to bother everyone else again...

but how long after your shadow day do people find out if it's a no-go? And will you just get an email or a phone call as well???

Sorry to be a nutso, I'm just very nervous, so much going on being so close to graduation, and would just love some resolutions!

Thanks- lots of love and appreciation :redpinkhe

Good question! Not quite sure. They are supposed to call me this week or next with the specifics. I would assume some time in August though, given that I'll take my boards in July.

Yay CHOP! :)

Hi novanurse11,

I saw on the thread that you're working at CHOP :) Just wanted to ask if you had a pipeline interview first before your shadow day? Or did you have a contact initially?

Specializes in NICU.

Hi :) It seems like a few people on this thread participated in the pipeline interview days earlier this year. I know it's a newer program they're doing at CHOP, so I was wondering if anyone who did them could offer up some perspective as to what they were like, how competitive it is, etc?

I'm going to the pipeline day next week and I'm pretty nervous! CHOP is my dream job, so any advice you can offer would be great! Thanks!
