Getting experience when can't get any job as a new RN
I did get jobs at 2 different long term care facilities - I'm sure it's because I knew people though ;( it's the only way in I guess. I put down an employees name who got hired because they knew someone.. I'm assuming that's the reason for us both because everywhere I do not have a reference name I'm never called. Though, all the hospital jobs where I know people do not help at all because the system is so large. And it doesn't change the fact I don't have 1 yr. ;( ::sigh:::

Prospective nursing student: need experienced advice.
im going to be brutally honest. go to community college to vamp up your GPA and do whatever else you can no matter how long it takes you to get into a BSN program.. do not be like me, i went into community college ASN program, and i graduated last year, and do not have a job. YOU NEED a bsn to be marketable and even BSN grads are having a tough time. i cannot express this enough i wish so badly i could go back in time, and just be in debt/loans like im going to soon hopefully once my fafsa results and take 3 more classes, and get into a BSN program like i should have instead, years ago. trust me. and don't let anyone in your family tell you differently, money wise because they don't understand how things really are out there! magnet status is what every hospital wants, and you have to be a BSN to be considered as an applicant anymore. i used to feel bad for LPNs getting pushed out? now its RNs. everyones sent packing to LTC facilities, but guess what - they're so overly saturated now.. that I CANT even get in! within 40 miles around my house, i have applied to 10! BSN. OR BUST!!!

Where should I take the NCLEX?
well if i were you, personally, go with the one that you can find more new grad positions. i got my PA license last august, and have sent over 350 apps out, with only 4 interviews. still have not been picked. - my resume/cover letter have been reviewed and HR has given me feedback saying they're are "impeccable" so i know its not that. i have since gotten my licence by endorsement for the state of FL and NC, and with my tax return will try a few more - just to broaden my chances. its sad - but im literally going to move into an apartment anywhere i can be hired in the united states, if i can get a job. we shall see. so yeah - which you find has more openings / better chances. but the north/northeast is hopeless so don't start there!

Philadelphia Area "New" RN: 30 applications rejected : When will my dream come true?
hi, IM BACK! well, its almost been a year since i posted this.. still nothing. from 30, to 300 applications from PA to florida, and each state in-between. i am now saving for licensure money for the states of MD, VA and DE for now. I am at a loss, as we all are. just here to vent again. OH, i have had 3 interviews, however all realized AT THE INTERVIEW that i graduated in 2010 and did not have exp. My resume and cover letter both read that way - so i was some what insulted. going forward i am being sure to verify they understand NEW RN, upfront before i waste gas money! :sigh: ohhh life.

Philadelphia Area "New" RN: 30 applications rejected : When will my dream come true?
Hi everyone :redbeathe 30 applications now, and each one denied. 2 of them, were actually for an entry level.. so once they were declined, i actually shed tears. ::sigh:: well im just here to vent. I am so exhausted with applications, i'm starting to feel I might as well give up for a few months. how are things for you new jersey grads? My paper work for obtaining my licenser in NJ is nearly complete. however, i wonder if its worth the $200.00 and other fees? :redbeathe:crying2::redbeathe
