As a grad RN, should I apply as a PCT?
As a grad RN without a job for almost one year, should I consider working as a PCT in a hospital until a RN position comes my way? What do you all think?

Getting experience when can't get any job as a new RN
Just wondering why you thought there was a huge nursing shortage in PA? Maybe other areas in PA (of which I do not know), but not Philly. There are no jobs for new grads, all want experience.

Philadelphia Area "New" RN: 30 applications rejected : When will my dream come true?
Hi: I am a new grad as well, graduated August 2010 and still do not have a job. Thinking it would help, I received ACLS, PALS, NRP. Unfortunately, still no job. I am tired of filling out applications, sending emails, making phone calls only to receive no response.

Getting experience when can't get any job as a new RN
Hi there: Trying to get a job as a new RN in Philly and the surrounding area is very discouraging. I don't even get any call backs for interviews. I graduated August 2010, and received my license in November 2010. I know that there are a lot of people in the same situation, some have been out even longer. I already took several certification courses thinking this would help gain at least an interview. No such luck. I don't know what else I can do. How can I get experience when any place you look wants someone with experience? I also am a registered dental hygienist and have been doing temp work as a dental hygienist, but I want to work as a nurse. That is why I went back to school. I keep hearing things should get better soon. When? Now, there is even more competition with the recent graduates waiting to take the NCLEX and become licensed. I am also getting worried because it is almost a year since I graduated. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

graduate nurse jobs in philadelphia and surrounding area
I graduated in August 2010, passed the boards in November. This was my second degree. Applied to many jobs, especially at Temple. Have not had any return calls. Tried calling a couple of hospitals I applied to about my application status. Was told would receive a phone call if nurse recruiter was interested in interviewing me, or to reapply to position if do not hear from recruiter in 4 weeks. Not even having any luck in hospitals that offer nurse residency programs. Getting extremely discouraged. I feel like I wasted my time and money returning to school. Also, I am sick of hearing about a nursing shortage. If there are no jobs, there obviously is not a nursing shortage.
