Is Nursing Your Passion?

Specializes in IM/Critical Care/Cardiology.

I couln't think of another profession I'd rather be in. So yes along with the down times, I get great reward from the good days!;)

NO, but maybe it will become my passion some day.

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Ya know - I think we are expecting too much out of our careers. Yes, I like nursing. It is not my PASSION however. My passion is my family. So....I guess that while I am considered a competent provider, I'm not too passionate about it - lol.

Specializes in Geriatrics, ICU, OR, PACU.

I've loved it ever since that first day in the ER as a unit secretary. I saw the nurses in action, and realized that's what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Corny, I know, but I've loved every minute of it.

I've gotten burned out a few times (ICU, OR), but have finally found my calling (nursing admin), so it's all good.

Specializes in ER.

nope, I do enjoy my job, but for sure it is not my passion. I believe you have to enjoy what you do, but passions are something you live for (family, fishing, hunting, motorcycles, etc...). A job is something that allows you to keep making money to live.
