Is an LNA the same as an LPN???

Someone told me that LNA's and LPN's are the same thing is that true???

I don't recall ever hearing of an LNA. What does it stand for?

LPN is Licensed Practical Nurse. That and LVN V=Vocational, and RN Registered Nurse are the only Nurses there are.

Then no an LNA isn't a nurse like an LPN is. May I ask what state you are in that they have such?

Nursing assistants are certified, there is no licensure exam for them. They do not get a license number.

Definitely not the same as the LPN, that requires at least a year of study in an approved school of nursing, as well as passage of the NCLEX-PN exam.

I'm not the OP but we have LNAs in NH. They have license numbers, continuing education and active practice requirements.

From my understanding, it is exactly the same as a CNA, but in a state that classifies them as LNAs - similar to states that classify them as STNAs (state tested nursing assistants) - or states that use LVN instead of LPN - it is the same thing, just a different title used in that state.

I never heard of the title "Licensed Nursing Assistant", but with the name of "nursing assistant" included in the title, I would say that it would not be similar to LPN. Also, from my understanding, nursing assistants would be certified, not licensed.
