Specializes in LTC, MDS Cordnator, Mental Health.

I was 45 when I started LPN and now just graduated from RN I am 48 and now considering my Masters.

It is never to late to become educated. BTW I am 26 and will start NS in Aug. Good luck to you!

Specializes in Flight, ER, Transport, ICU/Critical Care.

i have wrestled with the idea of going to law school. still may - got a job that "derailed" that plan for a bit, but...

as i was whining about it, complaining that i'd be 42 when i graduated - my husband pointed out that if i did not go to law school i'd still be 42 in three years! kinda profound in its simplicity!

i think you will do great! i think a little age and experience are awesome when it comes to nursing!

my journey!

finished college for the first time in 1990 at age of 22. i took the scenic route! worked a couple of years in public relation/sales type jobs.

* got my emt in late 1991. i was 24. started to volunteer.

* certified volunteer firefighter in 1992 at age of 25

* back to college for a degree in emergency services technology in may 1994. i turned 27 that summer.

* completed career firefighter certification in 1995 at the age of 27.

* became instructor in various speciality disciplines

* finished excelsior college nursing asn in feb 2003 at the age of 35.

currently "working" on my msn (although not very aggressively) and still weighing the law school option!

i love school!

:D .... :D .... :D .... :D .... :D .... :D ....:D....:D

fyi - i think i've done okay. and i think my age has been more of an asset that a liability. also, i hold board certification in emergency nursing and critical care nursing. i have never regretted anything i have done, but my regret is what i did not try!

the only time that time matters is ---

:redbeathe ..... :redbeathe ..... :redbeathe ..... :redbeathe

when it runs out!

go for it!

you life is now!

I am a second degree person that graduated this May. I am 35. If it's what you want, do it. Don't live a life full of regret.

Specializes in Community Health, Med-Surg, Home Health.

Of course, it is not too late. By the time I earned my license, I was 42.

Specializes in ICU, oncology, orthopedics, med/surge.

45, two kids, 3 dogs, a cat and my other half. Currently in NS. Will graduate in Dec. Kind of wish I started earlier though. My memory isn't what it used to be, particularly now when I need it most. NS is not easy.

Thanks :)

I just heard so much from my dad who was the one who "persuaded" me to get a degree in a field, that I wasnt passionate about. Not his fault, my fault because I didn't have enough in me to say "Dad, this is really not what I want to do". But, oh well, I learned a HUGE lesson......I told him about my nursing plans...he is a huge influence in my life, so I still share my plans and fears etc, and he was like, well, are you gonna be in school forever. Why don't you start a career in a field you have already dedicated 4 years of school, and a lot of money.. etc etc etc.....

I know life doesnt end at 30 :) I hope I will be a new nurse when I turn 30 :) That would be awesome !!!

well, I am usually a fan of "yeah, your childhood sucked, but get over it" philosophy. And here I am whining that my daddy made me go to school :) Don't get me wrong, I have learned a lot, but the thought of doing it for the rest of my life...blahhh! No way....

I am waiting for the NS to reply. They sent me a letter stating they still need my HS diploma . Is it a common practice? I mean, I have a BS and MS, doesn't it mea that I have graduated from HS? Althought, I went to HS outside of US, maybe thats the reason they want my HS diploma.

sorry for typos :( :)

They will want HS as well as college, just like your resume should include your high school as well as college(s).

did you make any typo? do you really mean 26 instead of 62 that makes you sound too concern about your age and possible success? if you did not make a mistake my advice is go smell a coffee! u ain't old! now if you just made a typo, you are probably have a right to be concern of.

haha....darnit, ok, I am 72 years young.....:)
