Im just wondering if its a good time to start applying to hospitals. Unfortunately I have 1.5 years of experience as a nurse in a SNF/Rehab and at a peds clinic so im thinking it will be nearly impossible to get an acute care position.

It depends on the area I think.
I graduated last December. Even though I have LPN License have never practiced as an LPN.
So after I gained my RN license in late May and have gone for about 4 interviews. I got 2 offers but picked a hospital job. It took me a little over a month to get that job. So in my case, it's not as bad. Most of my friends who applied for hospital job got their job in different department- ED, ICU, decision unit, infectious control. Just keep applying. You never know.

May I ask what area you are in? In NYC it seems to be a different story...

Looks like michigan based off of his post.
Location heavily matters, but once I got 1 year I started shotgunning my resume and was eventually turning interviews down.

You never know. It's still very hard to get a hospital position. Anything but homecare is hard to get.
