Is there a Height requirement for nurses?

Published

hi everyone. I'm taking up nursing. I'm just wondering, is there a height requirement to get a nursing job in the USA? i'm kind of petite, around 5'0.. Some of my friends told me to get a job in the states you got to be tall because patients there are usually tall. How true is this? :( Thanks|!:innerconf

I work with a lot of "short" nurses. Its no big deal. They are very good nurses too. I would guess they are around your height. No one can discriminate against you due to height. We just call them "runt" and go on!!! ( sorry I couldn't resist ):redpinkhe

Actually, due to the influx of Asian and Hispanic immigrants coming to America, the rest of the world is catching up to us in height, or surpassing us (Holland, for example).

there is no problem with being short or tall. i am only 5 feet and i've been a nurse for three years now.don't worry about it.
