Dear nurses and student, who already passed your test!

I heard so many advice's about writing down all lab. values down on a dry board in the beginning of your exam so you can reduce anxiety while focusing on the questions. I would like to ask you, is this considered a cheating on the test? Even you retrieve this information from your own memory. I'm little confused what to believe....

Thank you!

One of my friend came from Kaplan course and they discussed this issue there. They have to admit - it is cheating! I can't believe it - how so?

When I took my NCLEX I was specifically told that brain dumping (which is what that is) was not allowed and would cause me to fail the test. I'm not sure if yours is different, but that was a big no-no for me.

Dear Brekka!

May I ask you is brain dumping considered cheating on a test? Did you have this advice at the testing center?

Thank you!

We were permitted to brain dump during nursing school exams. I don't see it as cheating personally, but I can understand how it can be viewed as cheating. When I took my NCLEX-RN I was told specifically by the proctor that brain dumping was not allowed and would lead to automatic failure. I do believe that it is not allowed for the NCLEX exams, though this is something you would have to ask your proctor.

If you can scribble it onto a dry board ... you don't have to do it at all. Come prepared. Don't give them any reason something is fishy going on.

If u no the labs thats mean u no, don't weist your time, my Kapalan teacher sed u can do that but how about if u dont get any lab q thats mean u just weist your time !!

Hey with brain dumping, its cheating if done before the test starts but after the first question, you are allowed to write down facts. Its allowed then to brain dump. Obviously don't write a page after just one question, space it out a little.

According to Pearson, brain dumping is cheating when you do it during the tutorial, before the actual exam starts.

But Honestly, if you know the lab values, you shouldn't waste time scribbling them all down.

Thank you for your advice's! I treasure your opinions!

I had a good experienced with the Proctors they told me to raise my hand if I need a new one but they were the one who approached me and offered (3x) a white board and marker when they saw that it was full of writing. After 4 days I saw my License number. I passed! Yayyyy!

I just took my test and my proctor told me that I can write whatever I wanted after I started my exam...But you can't write anything before. I jotted down a little but didn't use any of it.
