Hello everyone. I'm currently enrolled in my last set of pre-reqs for the RN program. In my microbiology classs, I noticed there is high anxiety because the applicant pool looks strong this year and 90% of my class are nursing applicants. I would like to start a support group, for passing along information, questions, advice, or just emotional guidance. We can all be nurses. We can all do it. Let's help each other get there! Does anyone have any tips for the NLN exam? Unfortunately, I have class and cannot attend the free review sessions.
you need to purchase the lipige, which is like 1600 dollars.. you need the calculate with confidence.. get started on that asap, it sucks your time!!!! get it out of the way as soon as possible.. and start your readings for the first module the first week before or sooner.. it will help a lot. you need the davis drug guide ( and activate the online version when you start your med sheets for clincials, it saves lots of time..) and you need the nurses pocket guide, and maybe a care plan book, get one that is used... the rest of the books on the back of that list I bought and have not used a single one.. don't waste your money....
so...
1. lipincott package
2. calculate with confidence
3. davis drug guide
4. nurses pocket guide
5. optional care plan book (any will work)

hey everyone, I'm just finishing up my first semester (ADN). As for the actual classes, some people have been able to get by with just focusing on the power points and prep u. I read over the ppts, listen to podcasts (listen to masons, wise... ms.d has writes out her entire podcast under each slide in the notes section).. and skim over the chapters, don't read everything in one sitting, look at how much you have to read and split it up.. before you take your first test google nclex style questions and learn how to answer some of them... that's what got me on the first exam. if you get ms. d for clinicals, she is awesome, I don't know what people are talking about on rate my professor. just don't expect her put up with ******** like not showing up ontime to clinicals, or not having your assignments done...
i was an online student and went to the first class of each professor to see their teaching styles.. mason and ms. D are awesome teachers, sometimes ms d goes over ppt, but mostly she does worksheets that reinforces what she is testing on.. crowell I didn't like, I couldn't understand her she is soooo soft spoken... and wise cracks me up but i don't need to hear her recite the podcast in lecture again.. once is enough..
i hope this helps all of you, good luck!
and make sure you request a clinical site for nurse 2 after a couple of months, i would say like 2 months after you start.... carol amole is the person in charge., especially if you got stuck in vero like i did when you live in psl.
your last exam will be on a Friday and your final the following Monday.. so study wisely.. like a month before the final, figure out which modules you did your worst and start going over those power points.. it will save a lot of stress.. and read read read read read read read read read read the ethics, law, etc module chapters for crowell and know it by hard for the exam.. it was killer, 90 percent of us flunked it.. and from what i understand so did the previous class...
good luck y'all..
