IRSC Spring 2016 hopefuls!

Hello everyone. I'm currently enrolled in my last set of pre-reqs for the RN program. In my microbiology classs, I noticed there is high anxiety because the applicant pool looks strong this year and 90% of my class are nursing applicants. I would like to start a support group, for passing along information, questions, advice, or just emotional guidance. We can all be nurses. We can all do it. Let's help each other get there! Does anyone have any tips for the NLN exam? Unfortunately, I have class and cannot attend the free review sessions.

Sorry, at the moment I don't know of any active OFFICIAL study groups, but we could always create one! I've been studying with a girl in my class and after next week, we will start preparing for the NLN together.

Sydney,plz let me know if you create a study group.

Yes Ive attended a meeting last year im unsure if I have to attend another one. and I purchased the red pax rn booklet for the nln and studied from their

I would attend just to be safe!

If anyone is interested in a study group, I will be frequenting the Pruitt campus library, as much as I can, with my NLN review guide and notebook in hand. I need to brush up on math and physics from the looks of it, and from personal experience, two heads are usually better than one. I'm open during the week mostly, because I work at 3 on the weekends. Let me know if you would like to meet up! Thanks.

Sydney, I will Inbox you my number.

Hi! Are you currently enrolled? Your username looks familiar from past forums. If so, how do you like it thus far? If you apply to both the RN and LPN program, can you be accepted into both? This whole process is nerve wrecking. I'm sure you recall how anxious you were for information when you were applying as well! Thanks in advance!

Hi Sydney, I was an alternate for fall semester coming up. I got a few points shy of what I was shooting for on the NLN, but I got my acceptance letter in June. You can apply for both but I wasn't interested in the LPN.

The application process is very nerve wracking especially after you get accepted because you can't miss anything or you're out. The deadline to turn in our completed checklist was yesterday so the last week has been very stressful. Have you gone to an information session yet? The last one before the deadline is the 20th.

@Brittani22

Unfortunately, I have not attended an Info session because I was enrolled in an Anatomy lab at 5pm. I will be present at the August 20th session. I'm sorry, I wasn't aware you were enrolled for Fall! I thought you were with the 2014 group for some reason. I'm trying not to obsess over it, so I'm studying for the NLN and trying to be faithful. I passed BSC2093 with lab, and MCB2010 with lab, all with B's. Not the worst, but definitely not the best. I took them all together during summer 2 session! I'm enrolled for the CNA course to start on the 26th. Someone from the dept. told me that while you don't get "priority", it's recommended to do. And I was criticized for it, but honestly I want to be a nurse, so that means my job won't always be so glamorous. If you have anything to share about your experience thus far, please do. I would highly appreciate it. I don't desire to do LPN as strongly either, because of the lengthy pushback from becoming an RN, but I don't want to sit around too idle, while I hope for the next cycle. I decided that my date to test will be the 24th and 25th. One to take the NLN for the LPN and other to take it for the RN. Thanks for responding!

I've been on a couple of threads from previous semesters just to see what everyone had to say. I was also thinking about applying earlier but I wasn't so good about studying for the NLN.

The most stressful part about applying is the NLN so I would say just make that a HUGE priority. It is also good to share your score with others on here so everyone can get an idea of how strong the applicant pool is. Waiting to hear if you are accepted or denied for 4-6 weeks can make you a little crazy so there's a little comfort in knowing other applicants scores. Unless you get under a 100 on the test there is really nothing to be embarrassed about when sharing NLN scores and total scores. I never understood why some people are so secretive about their scores. If you are on a forum you are most likely trying to get some insight so if others are sharing their scores to help others get an idea, be fair and share yours too! I was an alternate and had no shame in sharing because it helps others get an idea of where they might be on the list. I also knew I didn't study for the test as hard as I should of. Everyone can do great on the test as long as they put the time in!!

Brittani that is so awesome that you got in! I am so happy for you! If you don't mind me asking, what was your NLN score? I got a 120 on the NLN last year and didn't get in with that, so I have been trying to study as much as I can now. I have an A in anatomy and B in the lab, then a C in micro and B in the lab.... not the best, so I really want to do well. Any insight would be great! Kind of freaking out right now. Just feeling stressed, really wanting to get in.
