IRSC Spring 2016 hopefuls!

Published

Hello everyone. I'm currently enrolled in my last set of pre-reqs for the RN program. In my microbiology classs, I noticed there is high anxiety because the applicant pool looks strong this year and 90% of my class are nursing applicants. I would like to start a support group, for passing along information, questions, advice, or just emotional guidance. We can all be nurses. We can all do it. Let's help each other get there! Does anyone have any tips for the NLN exam? Unfortunately, I have class and cannot attend the free review sessions.

Sigh you and i are in the same boat! I would be in class checking my emails and this website for updates. Constantly counting down the hours in a day and days in a week until i may find out.

Even if there are 400 applicants remember that not all got over 100 on the NLN. Remember that you have to pay the $30 application fee before you even apply.

Come to think of it, i'm not sure if they mean "all the people who paid the $30 fee" or all the people that at least meet the minimum requirements . . . hmmmm . . .

Candice, Its a very slow process, when i was transferred from another college, (Miami Dade College), they did not evaluate my transcript until 8 weeks later and that was after I saw my advisor and she emailed someone on my behalf and that was how they started processing it. Otherwise, i dont know how long it would have taken....Go to the college and speak to an advisor about it just to be on the safe side.

They finally evaluated my college transcripts yesterday. I still have "zero's" for A&P and Mircro however when I look at my pie chart for the nursing program, it says that I have completed 30 credits and I need 42 which tells me I literally only have the nursing 1-4 to complete. Still nervous though

Everyone needs to relax and stay positive. Don't waste your time worrying so hard about the entrance process, that you don't maintain that stride through the Fall classes. This is what my friend and I were talking about. She also applied to the nursing program. You have to truly relax into the state of mind that allows you to be powerful. Anxiety is a killer of ability. Save your energy for the actual nursing program. You're going to need it more at the point, than you will right now.

SydneyB123 did you only apply for the LPn?

SydneyB123 did you only apply for the LPn?

I did. I decided that the LPN program might be a better fit for me at this time. I plan to apply next year for the RN.

Lpn and paramedics aren't guaranteed a spot are they? I don't remember then saying that in the sessions

I regret not applying for the LPN

Well no one is ever guaranteed exactly, but LPN and Paramedics have priority.

Yes i know for fact Lpn are given priority because my friend got accepted with a 111 nln and she has her lpn license. And a few other with scores less than 120.Its true

Hi everyone, I am Dave and I am new to the forum. I applied for the RN program at IRSC for Spring 2016. I scored a 124 on the NLN and have a total score of 152. Based on the Fall 2015 hopefuls forum, that was the bottom of the range that were accepted. So it could go either way for me.

I heard they starts from the highest scores to the bottom. My score was 140 for the LPN and got 12.9 for all areas on the TABE. My major is RN but I decided to do the LPN first. I've all my prerequisites done.
