IRSC Fall 2014 Hopefuls!

Published

Hey everyone! I know this is super early to be talking about the fall semester but I just got my denial letter for the Spring 2014 semester so I wanted to make this group for anyone that's applying or didn't make it in like me. I got a 109 score on my NLN exam which makes my total points for program 130. I took A&P I & Micro which accounts for my points. I would like to retake the NLN in 6 months & hopefully I can do much better. I'm currently enrolled in A&P II & plan on just studying my butt off for the nln in the process. Classes I have left before I'm done with all my "pre-requisites" are A&P II (which I'm currently in), Chemistry, and Nutrition. (which I plan on taking those in spring/summer). Maybe we can get a study group together eventually if anyone is interested! Best of luck to everyone! :)

How did you do on the NLN SBabs?

I got a 145. I'm not really sure where that measures up, but think it's ok. You just never know how strong the applicant pool is and all of that; but I think I have a good chance! How about the rest of you?

Just checking back in. I didn't re-take the NLN this time, I know i didn't study enough to go pay $75 again for something I don't believe I wouldn't have gotten a better score. I'm okay with it, I went ahead & applied for the program online. Now is the waiting game! The scores you guys received are amazing! I think you all have a really good chance of getting in or being an alternate. ***This is always a big question - how long after deadline do you wait to hear if you got in. I look back at last semester & I submitted my application on 8/30 & received my denial letter via Rivermail (irsc email) on 9/20 so thankfully it wasn't even a month. I hope it's the same or sooner this time! Good luck to everyone!!

Babs I got a 132 (which was very disappointing as my pratice tests averaged 145) it made my overall score a 155. A 148 is a great score btw and you will most likely get in!

Don't feel bad - I found the actual test to be much more difficult than the practice tests. how long does it take for them to update your application with the score? I took the test yesterday morning and the score still isn't added...think that's normal?

Hi guys, glad I found this thread! If I'm adding the points up correctly, I should have a 159 going into the application pool. Hopefully that is good enough to make me one of the 70?

Yes I think that's normal, I took mine a week and a half ago as it's still not up yet.

Hey guys! Just finished the nln and got 136! :D which makes my total points 168! I hope it's enough! Good luck to everyone!

I just figured out that I have a combined score of 174 but I'm not really sure what overall score is competitive for this program. Looking at some past boards, admitted students had a score of 150+. But that is only considering people that participate on the threads.

Wow good job Jessica! I wish my score was that high! When is the final day for applications? I really hope I get in!

SBabs I have a few friends whom are in and completed the program, so word of mouth (and take this with a grain of salt) is anything over over 160 is in, 150-160 is either in (depending on strength of applications) or an alternate that usually gets in after the fact. This is word of mouth so take it for what it's worth. Do you know the final day for applications?

Thanks for the info - looks like our chances are good then! The applications are due on 3/6 - Thursday. So the wait to find out should not be very long.
