IRSC Fall 2014 Hopefuls!

Published

Hey everyone! I know this is super early to be talking about the fall semester but I just got my denial letter for the Spring 2014 semester so I wanted to make this group for anyone that's applying or didn't make it in like me. I got a 109 score on my NLN exam which makes my total points for program 130. I took A&P I & Micro which accounts for my points. I would like to retake the NLN in 6 months & hopefully I can do much better. I'm currently enrolled in A&P II & plan on just studying my butt off for the nln in the process. Classes I have left before I'm done with all my "pre-requisites" are A&P II (which I'm currently in), Chemistry, and Nutrition. (which I plan on taking those in spring/summer). Maybe we can get a study group together eventually if anyone is interested! Best of luck to everyone! :)

So Im deciding to tell my expierience for any others who may benefit. I had my PDP TB skin test read today. I tested doubtful. I got a second opinion and got positive. I had a chest xray and got negative. I was worried this would effect my status. The handbook clearly states you need a negative TB skin Test. I called Ann Hubbard and she said as long as the chest xray is negative I am good to go. So if anyone else is in this position dont freak out. I think I did enough freaking out for the rest of us. I will be on medication for 6 months and they said that is fine because it is a latent, non-communicable form of TB, and good news! No TB skin tests for me for life. :) Finding a silver lining in it all I guess. And the DR said it should be erradicated after the antibiotics and B vitamins. Has anyone else had to deal with this?

I'm getting my results tomorrow morning ! Then going to get my student ID Monday & also turning everything in hoooray (: we just need to bring our paid schedule to get the nursing ID, correct ?

Colive, I think they called the nursing department. We were told we would get an email about the upcoming dates & times also

Yes bring the paid schedule

Can't we just purchase our books individually each semester or do we have to buy the E-book ? I don't really have a thousand bucks at the moment

I need advice guys. I had the front of my physical filled out by an APRN. But the backside with the shots is filled out by an RN, do you think that'll be okay or should I just start over? Of course it's friday and IRSC is closed so I can't call til Monday.

On the powerpoint we got at orientation it says the form may be filled out by a nurse practitioner or physician

They have changed the books for this intake. The e-book is one of the required books I believe. So unfortunately you will no longer be able to buy them as you go, ie add to your collection each semester. The e-book lasts for the whole two-year program. Maybe you could share the cost with another student? I think you get two access codes when you buy the book.

Sent from my iPhone

I think the ebooks is the biggest ripoff. we dont even get to sell it back

Oh great :/ lol thanks, guess I'll figure something out

Woohoo I am all set. Just handed in all my paperwork. Spoke to Dr Hubbard. Tabe test is recommended but definitely not required.

Did they go over all your paperwork with you to make sure you had everything ?

Yes, Dr. Hubbard and the other lady in the office both checked every piece of paper and said I was all set.
