IRSC ADN Applying for fall 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Hi.Anyone out there applying for fall 2013? There are changes this semester and was wondering if anyone knows what kind of score we may need on the NLN to have a chance at a spot. The application packets aren't available yet and I'm getting anxious! Anyone know when the will put them out?

I got my book for $37.09, new from bookstores.com

Hello

Congratulations to all of you who got accepted! Just wanted to answer a few questions that I saw here..

You can get pants and clinical white uniforms online or in a uniform store, I used my same pants for class and clinical. Also you can get the patch at the bookstore, I also got the lab coat and have never used( I have 1 more class to finish the program). It is a good idea to read your math and drug calculations book..you will likely have a test on it sometime during your first semester..Also, the first day of any other class you will have a drug calculation test..also be respectful to your teachers and other students..last thing I heard them said about the new program was that you are expected to have done your reading before class as you will be provided with patients care examples and will have to work throught them in class...good luck to all and enjoy your adventure!

Thanks Allison1993 and dreamgirl823! I'm planning to get the review book and start studying asap. I want to be sure I'm prepared.

Hey everyone I'm also applying for the 2014 spring program. Just out of curiosity what scores did everyone who was accepted end up getting on the application and the NLN? Thanks!

@Epooler2013

if you look through this thread and threads like this youll have your ballpark. you'll know that the score needed changes from year to year because its based on the overall applicant pool, so while a 130 may have gotten you in last year, a 130 may be a far cry from getting you in the next year.

with that said, this time around it seemed like a 130+ was good enough to get you in, granted you did well in microbio+ap1 to get you up to the 155+ range. Your overall i think needed to be roughly 155 to get in, and anywhere from from 145-150 (ish) to be an alt. My nln score was a 140 and i had 27 points added from classes giving me an over all 167 that got me in first try. a friend of mine (same class) got a 145 on the nln, and only 11 points added onto to his overall, giving him a 156, and he was selected. Bear in mind however, we both had gone through the paramedic program the year prior.

There was roughly id say 25-35 people that were already medics/lpns/rrt that go into the program, which *unofficially* made our applications more appealing for the selection process.

Whatever the fact is, id say, if you get 135+ on the NLN you'll be in pretty good standing regardless of the pool (unless you completely bomb pre reqs)

for preparation i actually studied an old outdated NLN review for LPNs/LVNs lol. seemed to have done the trick though. Good luck!

I asked about the 4th edition for calculate for confidence and it was a no go. Oh well...I can still use it for additional practice.

hey @reg4fun69 wanna PM me the link where you found those cheap pants =DD

@jonnyvirgo I have tried to send you a PM, but I guess its disabled for me because I need to participate in more topics or something. Am I allowed to post the link on this forum? There are many sites online with cheaper prices than the bookstore. I just googled it and there are tons of sites.

Has anyone looked at the reviews of the required textbooks? I read the reviews on Amazon and they not favorable...kinda scary with the new curriculum.

reg4fun ... do you need the Lilley Pharmacology book still? It was on our Fundamentls book list, not sure what they have you guys ordering for your first class. If you do ... dont buy it until you get ahold of me.

has anyone heard if anymore alternates got letters?

@ smileanyway I have not heard of anymore alts getting in yet :( But after this week we may get some news when the background checks come back. I am a 149 w/out micro so let me know when u get your letter:)

@PDowling...They gave us a tentative list and will send us a final list after registration. I don't see that book on the list, but it may be on in the future. I don't see any pharmacology books at all on this list.
