IRSC ADN Applying for fall 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Hi.Anyone out there applying for fall 2013? There are changes this semester and was wondering if anyone knows what kind of score we may need on the NLN to have a chance at a spot. The application packets aren't available yet and I'm getting anxious! Anyone know when the will put them out?

FYI...I bought all three of the concept based learning books separately and only paid a total of $183.00 for all three through Amazon . They are used but in great condition. I know it's hard with financial aid, but its a HUGE savings to buy used instead of through the bookstore if you can swing it.

Also the neighborhood online thing that is included with the books at the bookstore is available to purchase separately for I believe $25.00.

Unfortunately I am using funds that can only be spent at the bookstore. I would much rather buy them used but just do not have the spare $$ to lay out. I just think it is ridiculous how IRSC told us at orientation to hold off on buying them because they were working out a deal for all of them.

Seriously?! There goes most of my scholarship money! How did you find out how much the books cost? I called the bookstore yesterday and they said that they weren't going to have any of our books in until next week...

nobody there REALLY knows when the books are gonna come in. I called yesterday as well and the girl told me "keep checking in because books come in everyday" i heard jul 29th, some other dude told me "before august 8th" its quite frustrating.

I went to the vero bookstore & told them I needed a voided receipt for all the required books. It took them a couple of days but they gave me a receipt for all the required textbooks totaling 1243.00. That's not including the tote bag or med kit or polo/ uniforms, etc.

Good idea! $1243 isn't as much as I figured it would be, especially since they added so many books to our new list (though it's still outrageous!). Did they tell you how much the tote bag/med kit is? I couldn't get a straight answer from the people at the main campus bookstore last time I was in...

Well I don't have an exact amount, but when I emailed foundation for a request to transfer scholarship funds to the bookstore for the list of additional items we need; they emailed me back saying they transferred $600. So hopefully that covers it. I still need to buy shoes- which one of the staff at orientation stressed to me that the shoes cannot have a speck of color on them -besides white, pants & a laptop. I wonder if twirling a sign on the corner that says need money for school would work... (Jk) I am running out of $$!

Haha! I'm right there with you as far as running out of $$. I've also been looking for shoes...I'm not a big fan of the Sketchers they sell in the bookstore, but it looks like I'm not going to have much of a choice. I found a pair of New Balance at Shoe Carnival in Vero, but I noticed that in certain light part of it appears really pale blue. Sigh. I just got a new laptop from Best Buy...they have some really great interest-free financing offers if you qualify for one of their credit cards. Anyway...thanks for the info! :)

Another question for everyone...does anyone remember where/when we are supposed to submit our checklist/paperwork? I assumed that it would be the first day of classes, but figured I'd ask you guys just in case I'm wrong. :)

Your paper work and checklist are due by Aug. 5th(this Mon.) and if everything is not submitted by that date you are "no longer in the program". And you turn them in at the nursing dept in the H building on the main campus 2nd floor. Good Luck:)

Oh, gosh...good thing I checked! Thanks!

I turned in my whole packet this morning! Glad to have that done. Does anyone have any suggestions on $$? I was denied financial aide due to having too many credits. I had dental assisting 16 years ago and ate up my credits. I did a petition and they still said no emergency circumstance, so I was denied again... How can it not b necessary when I have to quit my full time job, pay for school, books, and living expenses? Anyway was also told by an advisor that I can not get a Stafford loan either?? Does that make sense? Tried calling financial aide, but cant get through. As far as shoes and white pants go, check out uniform shop on US! in Ft. Pierce in front of that old trailer park. Seems creepy from outside, but they have alot of great uniforms and prices are fair. Thanks for all the good advice on here. Cant wait to meet yall:bugeyes:
