IRSC ADN Applying for fall 2013

Published

Hi.Anyone out there applying for fall 2013? There are changes this semester and was wondering if anyone knows what kind of score we may need on the NLN to have a chance at a spot. The application packets aren't available yet and I'm getting anxious! Anyone know when the will put them out?

as far as everyones insurance policies goes are all of yours in effect? or do you all have some that will take effect before the program begins? Is it mandatory that its already in effect?

My coverage was effective 08/01. My understanding is that most health insurance policies start on the first of the month, but I could be wrong about that. You have to have proof of health insurance by 08/05 and maintain it during the two year program.

well, this morning i was denied access to class to recertify my cpr card because i didnt have the stupid mask :/ i have an active cpr card thats valid until november of 2014 but with how strict they are with the program, thats probably not gonna cut it even if i do take the next available cpr class which is the 15th...so it looks like im out. Ill find out monday for sure of course when i go to drop off the paperwork i do have but its looking pretty bleak for me at the moment :(((

Good luck to the next alt thatll take my place

I may apply for Spring 2014 but currently do not have health insurance. Did any of you find a plan that is not too costly? I have cut my hours at work for school and obviously will have to cut them down even more if I get into the program.

BCBS has monthly plans at about $27/mo. I went with bare minimum insurance since i didnt actually ever plan on using it, just grabbed it for the program, so it doesn't really cover much but it works

Great! Thanks so much, jonnyvirgo and good luck!!

np i think theyre called "go blu" or something like that

Just an FYI, if you can order your books without using financial aid it is WAY cheaper. I purchased all of the required books on amazon.com all new except for the 3 concept based books for a total of $570. That's all 10 books! I definitely advise going this route if you can afford to. I just put it on a credit card and will pay it off with my financial aid funds. So, the only things I will need to purchase from the bookstore are the calculator, med administration pack, and lab tote. I was also told that financial aid $ will not be available at the book store until 8/12, so I am planning on going that day if anyone else wants to go and meet up, Reg4fun69 will be there too. Would be cool to put some more faces to names. So ready to start our adventure!! :)

P.S. johnnyvirgo let us know how you made out today!

Dropped all my paperwork off this morning! So glad to finally have it all done & turned in! :D

Is anyone else going to the Midnight Madness on Thursday (the 8th) at the bookstore? Last time I went in, the girl told me that they would be opening the scholarship/financial aid accounts just for that night, and then after that funds would be available the 12th. I'm hoping that they'll have all our books in by Thursday...I'd love to get the 10% discount on everything.

See you all on the 22nd! :)

just dropped off my paperwork at the office today. i decided not to take the chance nor would i take this lying down so i literally drove down to kendall this morning and found a test center that gives you your card on the spot upon completion. Paid the course cost, did the written test, did my practical, got my card and high-tailed it back to main campus with the rest of my stuff. They gladly accepted my forms and welcomed me into the program and wished me good luck. Talk about a load off, i can finally breath easy !! See you all in a couple of weeks :)))

Whooo Hoooo johnnyvirgo, now that's dedication!! Congrats!

cant wait to start and end this program. im glad we have summers off
