IRSC ADN Applying for fall 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi.Anyone out there applying for fall 2013? There are changes this semester and was wondering if anyone knows what kind of score we may need on the NLN to have a chance at a spot. The application packets aren't available yet and I'm getting anxious! Anyone know when the will put them out?

Oh, gosh...good thing I checked! Thanks!

Some.of the stuff doesn't specify by what date you need it in, like the health insurance or CPR so I kinda aalssuked that for those, you'd have until the first day of class to present them. But I'd have it all done by the 5th just to be safe. I'm taking CPR on the 3rd and I work on the 5th so idk how ill swing that

Health insurance and physical and CPR are all due by the 5th of August..

Dont let anything due the first day of class..if u dont have everything turned in you are out and that is how they can call alternates on the first day of class...

Hey everyone, just checking in! I turned in my checklist and all of the required paperwork today, easy breezy. I met Prof. McKenzie, she was super nice and said she is the director of the lab. And to reiterate what the others have said, everything on that checklist is due by 8/5 unless otherwise specified. She went through every one of my papers to make sure it was all there. I was told when I went to the bookstore that Financial Aid $ will not be available (or credited to our bookstore accounts) until 8/12. I sure hope they ordered enough books. When I pull up the book list now it's empty. I don't know what to do, I did find some books for a reasonable price but then I won't be using my financial aid $. I was going to compare and order based on price, but they are really dropping the ball with making the list/prices available, and it seems everyone you speak to at the bookstore says something different. Anyway, I am so looking forward to meeting you all and getting started on this new and exciting adventure! Enjoy what's left of your summer everyone! :)

Wow did anyone happen to read the reviews on amazon about the BOB (concept based approach to learning)? They are not good to say the least.

I also turned in all the paperwork today! Super excited and can't wait to meet everyone.

FYI....It's not just the bookstore that you get a get a different response each time. I have had the same thing happen with advisers and financial aid. I get a different answer each time I call.....very frustrating.:banghead:

Reg, did you see the reviews on amazon?! OMG, I am scared...very scared!!

I read that too! Scary!

I turned in my whole packet this morning! Glad to have that done. Does anyone have any suggestions on $$? I was denied financial aide due to having too many credits. I had dental assisting 16 years ago and ate up my credits. I did a petition and they still said no emergency circumstance so I was denied again... How can it not b necessary when I have to quit my full time job, pay for school, books, and living expenses? Anyway was also told by an advisor that I can not get a Stafford loan either?? Does that make sense? Tried calling financial aide, but cant get through. As far as shoes and white pants go, check out uniform shop on US! in Ft. Pierce in front of that old trailer park. Seems creepy from outside, but they have alot of great uniforms and prices are fair. Thanks for all the good advice on here. Cant wait to meet yall:bugeyes:[/quote']

Call workforce solutions & tell them you need the WIA grant. You can receive up to 7000ish $ per year.

Also call IRSC foundation & ask for FSEOG Funds.

Also check with your local hospitals HR departments. I got a scholarship of $8000 for the two year program with an agreement to work there for 2 years.

I was just over at the bookstore, and they told me that the books should be available by the 7th or 8th, but that the financial aid/scholarship money wouldn't be in until the 12th. However, they did have all of the approximate prices (give or take $10) for the books. It turns out that "package deal" for $900 includes the 3 BOB books and 3 of our other textbooks...all the ones published by Pearson. Getting 6 books for that much makes me feel a little bit better. Still no pricing on the tote bags/medication administration kit. I'm also waiting for a call saying that they have the white tunic shirts for clinicals in. I just can't believe they have waited until the very last minute to get all this stuff in! It's so frustrating!

Thanks everyone for all the $$ advice. I also am frustrated with advisors and financial aid, I get different story every time also. I will call workforce solutions, but thought it goes by your income. Right now I make too much $, but come January I will have to find another job due to our busier schedule at school. When I turned in my packet Candace (I think her name is) was awesome, very friendly and helpful!! Yes every thing has to be turned in by the 5th (parking decal, immunizations, cpr, insurance, etc) See ya'll on the 22nd:yes:
