Hi everyone! I just thought I'd start the new State forums off with an introduction thread. Please feel free to reply to this thread if you wish. Otherwise, feel free to start a new topic if you wish to discuss other topics that are local or state related. Enjoy!

Hello.........This is a great idea. I will be checking out MA & NH forums because I live so close to the state line. It will be interesting to hear from students and nurses about schools & employment for the local area. I live in NH but Boston is about 1 1/2 hr commute. I volunteer once a week @ a Boston hospital. I would like to read about what the Boston hospitals have to offer nurses. What are the best nursing schools in this area?

The Boston Globe is usually full of ads on Sundays. Good luck in your search.

Congrats! Have you browsed Bostonworks.com? There are lots of nursing employment ads on there.
Don't wait for a callback. Sometimes apps/resumes get lost in the shuffle or they are simply forgotten. Within a week or so after applying follow up with a phone call to confirm that your app/resume was received and ask if you could arrange an interview. I would call whomever it is that makes the hiring decisions directly. Human resources has no hiring power. They are simply there to weed out potential candidates. Best of luck.
thanks...
i had an interview yesterday with a nursing home..but i didn't tell them a decision yet... MGH called, so i have an interview with them next week... God-willing..we will see how that goes..

Me too circa Cape Cod....And to those looking for jobs in Boston, how about the surrounding areas....I cannot believe there are no jobs available..I have 3 hospitals begging me to work all the time. How about getting on some per diem staffs to get your feet in the door or doors....That is what I did and then I took a position as it became available when it was convenient to me..Welcome!

Hi everyone,
Older nursing student starting first day of school on monday. I've got all my prereq done. I am a little nervous about school, home, and my children.
I am 20 min. se of Boston. I love New England. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love fall, winter, spring, and summer(just less muggy please).
