How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.
I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.
Care to share?
Hey,
I'm a newbie...looking for advice and tips so I won't look so "newbyish" when I start school in Summer 08 (May). Want to know what I should and shouldn't do!
I will be doing a 5 semester RN program. Interested BIG time in L&D mainly because of the experiences I had with both my children. But I'm also interested in other fields (mainly ICU's). So I guess we'll see after its all said and done.
Anyhow, I love the idea of being a Nurse and have no problem with blood and guts and gore...I do have issues with loss of children and the emotional aspect of dealing with families and their losses. Needless to say I'm a bit scared! :uhoh21:
Hi everyoneGood luck to us all.......I will begin ADN program in the fall/08...many have told me that I better kiss the kids goodby!!
Please don't kiss your kids goodbye!! I have a four year old and I have been in the nursing program since spring of 07. I do feel bad for having to study so much and I do use the tv as a babysitter when I am doing so... But sometimes you have to just say the heck with it and spend some time with you kids. I just try to give him a time table he can understand such as by christmas mommy wont have to study anymore! He seems to get it and is very patient with me even though he is only 4!
Good luck with the program, study hard but make time for family too, even if it means blowing off studying for a few hours!

Hello, I'm Allison 36 and just moved in here from the pre-student forum. I got my acceptance letter today, I will start in the Fall of 08'. I am very exicted to be on my way to becomming an RN. I have two children, Kalista 9 and Bradley 6. We were all jumping up and down today like fools when the letter came. The kiddos know how important this is for all of us.
Orientation is in July and I need to become CPR certified prior to starting.
Hi all! Manda, 26 in Eastern Iowa, wrapping up my last year of pre-req's. Got accepted into the ADN program for the fall, which will begin for me in August! No kids, not married, none of that fun stuff. Just working full-time trying to pay for school. I have about four years experience working as an HCA in the community but I currently work outside of the medical field. Superbly excited to be starting the program in the fall and look forward to talking more with all of you.
Hello All!
My name is Lindsey. I will be starting my nursing program Fall of '08. I will be balancing nursing classes and wedding planning (alone, because y Fiance is at the Air Force Academy 1500 miles away), so this should be fun, hehe. I am so thankful for finding this site! I have a feeling I will be here often! ;-)
