How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.
I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.
Care to share?
Congratulations to you!! Did you have to wait a long time? I waited about 2 years once I got on the "list" but I had to take a few refresher classes before I could get on the list, so it has been a long haul for me. Enjoy your summer with your family, because life will change for all of you once you start school, just keep reminding them how wonderful the pay off will be in the end when you are a Nurse and your time will be yours again. Best Wishes to you!!
hi gals -
i'm kim, and i'm just starting with my core courses, sitting for the net in sept, hoping to be one of the 20% admitted to nur courses next spring.
i'm 52 (!!!) hoping to start a 2nd career in psych nursing. i'd like to work with vets in either a clinic or out-pt facility, and have an interest in ptsd and traumatic brain injury.
i'm taking 12 credits over the summer. none of my previous college credits were accepted, so i'm starting from scratch. i hope to grad with an assoc applied sci in 2011, and take rn boards then. plan to continue to bsn.
i'm looking for all the inspiration and positive reinforcement we can offer eachother. i really admire all of you with jobs and children... i'll look to you for inspiration when i'm feeling overwhelmed.
Hi everyone. I'm Valerie and going into 4th semester (part time, which means I've really got 2 semesters to go). I have 2 children (11 and 7)and a sig other (really more like 3 children, ha ha). I'm enjoying summer break right now but in August I'll be hitting the books again. I'm just about 40 . Good luck to us all
Hello Hello!
My name is Heather. I'm 25 years old, married, and getting ready to start my 3rd semester of school. Started nursing school fall '06, but took a year off because I had a beautiful baby girl (turning 1 this August). Nothing like getting pregnant in the middle of nursing school...obviously I wasn't working hard enough lol!
Was a CNA for 6 years before starting school, and am definately ready to get this over with and back in the workforce.
Good luck to everyone!!
Hi All,
I am 39yo, married for 17 years, and have a 14yo daughter (school is hard enough then I come home to a hormonal teen ;-). I am done for the summer, yeah! I will start my 3rd qrter out of 6 in the fall, which is L&D and peds. Long-term goal is to get my RN, work in crit. care, get a BSN, then if I am still sane enough, get a CRNA. It's early though, may change my mind. That's what's so great about nursing, you can do one thing for a while then do something totally different when you get tired of it.
Was (and still am :paw:) a veterinary technician for 9 years. Going from 4 legged to 2 legged. Believe it or not from what I have seen in clinicals human patients are more sane than pet owners. :chuckle
It's nice to be in web community where we all know what each other is going through.

Thanks :) This was my first time applying. I took 2 years to complete the prerequisites. I was limited by not being able to apply to programs outside my city so I am SO grateful to have been accepted in my first attempt! I am definately going to make the most of this summer, visiting family and getting my house in order!
Hi everyone,
My name is Leslie, I'm 27 and I live in New York. I have been married for 2 years. I have a BS in Psychology and was just accepted to Cochran School of Nursing in Yonkers, NY. I am doing the evening RN program, I only need 8 classes to complete my degree. I work full time as an Administrative Assistant to the VP of Nursing at a community hospital. I wish everyone lots of luck!

Hello everyone. I just became a member. It was encouraging to see other ladies my age starting nursing school. I am 37 and will be 40 when I graduate Dec. 2010. I stayed home with my kids ages 12 and 13 for 11 years. It feels good to know exactly what I want now and my kids and I study together. I love my school here in Memphis and feel so blessed to have been accepted.
