Cochran School of Nursing
My only advice would be to read everything they give you. I read the entire first unit before school even started to alleviate some of the pressure. I studied from the TEAS prep book, really just know your basic math (it's timed) so you don't panic and start putting any answer. You should be fine, don't stress.

Yes, you will definitely need a car. Right now we are doing a rotation at Malotz nursing home but after that you never know where you are going.

I don't find it that difficult. I think you have to have great time management skills to succeed. I read every chance I get. But I work for the VP of Nursing at the hospital I am at so I am around it all day so it may come easier for me. I think anything is possible. If this is your dream, attack it and know that failure is not an option.

I don't remember what my score was, but I did really well on the english portion, I just had a hard time with the math. they have a minimum score, not sure what that is either. you can buy the study guide online from ATI. If you are interested in attending this spring, they are taking applications now.

Sorry, this is a bit late to post. I was accepted to Cochran and I am now in my 1st semester. I applied in April, took my TEAS test in May, received my letter in June. The interview process was normal, questions were regarding what you could bring to the profession, general knowledge topics about the field, etc. Hope this helps.

Have you ..developed/are developing.. close Friendships in Nursing Program?
Absolutely! I am in a 2 year evening program with 28 people. We already had our first outing, a night of margaritas! And now we are planning a wine and cheee party at my house. I think it's what you make of it. I spend 17 hours a week with these people, I can't help but be close to them.

No more LPNs?
I work in a 200 bed hospital in New York. We are no longer hiring LPN's here as well. We are applying for Magnet Status next year and under those guidelines, LPN's are viewed as tech's as well. It has created quite a contreversy here.
