I went for an interview yesterday for my first job post graduation. I want to send a thank you card but I am unsure what to say in it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You,
Paula

I'm guessing you've never done this before? If not, the idea is to keep it simple and straightforward. Thank the person who interviewed you for his or her time and interest in you. Let him or her know you appreciated him/her taking so much time out of their busy day to give you this opportunity. Tell him/her that you enjoyed the conversation, especially ________(fill in a comment about the cute joke he told, or seeing the picture of her cat: you love cats!).
Finally, thank him/her for considering you as a candidate and potential employee. Nothing would make you happier than the opportunity to work at General Hospital.
How's that? :)

Start by thanking the person for taking the time to interview you on 8/xx/07.
Tell them you enjoyed meeting them and learning more about their department and whatever job you interviewed for.
Invite them to call you with any other questions they may have for you.
Tell them that you look forward to hearing from them soon regarding their decision on the blankety-blank position.
The above topics are sufficient. If there was some particular topic you discussed during the interview that you want to follow-up on, it's perfectly OK to do so -- but it's usually not appropriate to start a whole new thread of conversation in a thank-you note.

Is it OK to buy a thank you card from Walgreens or whatever (card style--maybe with a nice "thank you" written in gold lettering-nothing tacky) and write on the inside, handwritten???? would this be sufficient without breaking out with the stationary I don't have????

Go to Wally World and buy a box of simple all-purpose Thank You cards. They say Thank You on the front with the inside blank. Usually come 10 or 12 to a box, and handy to have on hand. Much cheaper than buying them one at a time.
Thank you for thanking the interviewer. This is a step that many either don't know about, forget, or don't think is important. If several dandidates are being considered, this little gesture can be a tie-breaker.
