I was wondering how I get hold of my transcripts, to find out how many hours I've done. Is it just a case of phoning up the uni?

They will probably charge you a fee of around £30 each time you request them. So that'll be £30 now, £30 for CES or the Borad of Nursing, & £30 for VisaScreen (if you didn't get CES before). I'm assuming that CGFNS won't ask again if you got your CES through them when you apply for VisaScreen

CES is the credential evaluation service run by CGFNS (Commission of graduautes of Foreign Nursing schools) & some US boards require that for your licensing, whereas others require you to have your transcripts sent straight to them.

VisaScreen is a requirement for all health workers wishing to work in the USA. There are plenty of stickies & threads on all this both in this forum & the international forum so do go check them out.

I had to contact the head of placements at my uni to get hold of mine.

My school only charged me once-the first time. After that they didnt charge

Your school was obviously not as money grubbing as mine!

Not only did they charge me twice (once for Vermont & then again for VisaScreen) but the 1st time they took 14 weeks to send them! After all that waiting what they sent was wrong so I had to go there in person, get the corrections done then Fed-Ex the sealed envelope myself to try & beat the wrong one reaching Vermont first!!

Even more gauling is that the 2nd time all the woman had to do was press print on her computer to get them!!

I also bet you didn't have to pay £90 for the Metropolitan Police to do your fingerprints!! That's another new money grabbing scheme! Local police are not allowed to do them anymore (in London anyway) so you have to make an appointment at New scotland Yard to have them done & it costs £60 for 1 card or £90 if there are 2!!

fortunately living in the land of sheep and cows has its advantages as my local police station still does them :D

My transcripts were also £30 but i only needed one set, its always useful to ask the uni for a photocopy for you to look at too.

Yes - I got a photocopy & that's how I discovered their mistake - so I would definitely recommend you ask for a copy!

Nope was married to a copper so got em done for nothing;)
