Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

The $1,000 AU "reservation" fee is paid on top of the 10,000 AU. They offered the same thing to me.
Did you avail it? Yes, they did mention that the fee this year have increased to 11,000 AUD, so I assume that in top of the 1,000 AUD that I will pay for reservation, I still need to pay 10,000 AUD for the full tuition fee.
Does it state if you pay an extra 1000.oo they will hold a spot open for you in an earlier course? Is it clear that this 1000.00 will not be part of the overall 10,000.00? This needs to be stopped, nurses being ripped off.
Hi! It is not a guarantee that you can be in an earlier intake. Its just that IF EVER there will be a spot available, they can give it to you, but in order for them to that, as I've mentioned, they're asking for 1,000 AUD. But the whole grasp of it is the intake they have really given me is June of 2011.
On the lighter note, is there something to worry about if I just accept the June 2011 intake? I mean, it's not really a problem for me because I am not really in a hurry to go. I have a kid here so it means that I can still spend more time with her. (she's still on her formative years)

I think they call this a rort? Come October NMBWA would be part of the national scheme so I'm still sitting on it. I've taken it upon myself to ask around for alternatives though.

I know someone who got told by the school they would give her slot away if she isn't able to make payment. Here's the thing... they promised her a late slot this year but got bumped off to a later slot for the next year. I think they have this thing of pulling other people's legs or something. She then got a call from the school that if she still plans to go for the slot, she needs to cough out the grand.
I wish I could dish you out a good advice about taking the slot or not but your guess is good as mine.
can a person be granted a 456 visa even if the funds are not on your own personal bank account? i'm having my aunt as my sponsor.. do i need to transfer the moolah under my name?
tsk tsk, i just wish really that some of the 456 visa holder can give you direct answer...
but my guess answer is: not necessary, if you push through with that plan then include your parents as sponsor too, by the way this advice is applicable only to "young" nurses aka new grad or less than 25..
thanks for the reply cioman :)
i guess it's good that i belong to the 25 y/o and below category, but my parents doesn't have enough moolah (serious prob). only my aunt and uncles (God bless them!)
does anybody have other questions (regarding the 456 visa) that u want me to ask them? i'll go personally to VIAC on monday.. (since it's sometimes hard to get a direct answer from them over the phone)
I'm a little confused about this:uhoh3:.. I have started trying to complete the application form, there was this part which asks for any bridge program/qualifying exam that i have taken... Does this mean that I can undergo the Bridge Program prior to applying?
why does it look like everyone has found a university offering a 3-6-month program for $10-11K while i'm stuck with a 1-year prog for $17-25K?.. grrrr... it makes me think that I'm so stupid surfing the net...

jhae, i did something wrong over the weekend... im repaying it back by assisting you directly now... my "conscience" at work...
first question.... answer is no.... that question may be applicable to others who took the BP but failed or whatever.. the process and steps remained the same as what i have written in page one..
2nd question.... as what i have agen written in page one, i discussed about BP... and even the steps prior the BP classes itself... 3 mos. is the BP... in that page one, i also wrote the abbreviated names of the school offering BP, like ETEA, VCHN, LA TROBE, DEAKIN.. just google it...
i wrote PAGE O1 intentionally to help new members here, so basically the major steps are described there..
good luck..

questions of the 456 visa that i could not answer are those very detailed ones, like filling up the form,.. i cannot answer those queries becoz i dont have experience of it, my experience is only on 457 visa application..
the main reason why i said "young nurses" is that it is reasonable and normal that younger nurses do not have money in their bank, thus, would need support from relatives... in other words, it is believable....
in my case since im only young at heart, it would be hard to believe if i dont show money in the bank and just rely on support of relatives, normally they would double check if just in case i would go TNT because i dont have money will just work there TNT, that will be the normal suspicion that they will consider or rule out.. as ive said, for younger ones, it is normal to have no money on the bank and rely with relatives... see the difference..

disgusting, most fees, including uni's have been frozen for this year.
