Ma Board " by reciprocity "

Hello everybody (especially suzanne!),

another question.

I decided to go N.Y. for the initial licence. Suzanne, you told me, that I can endorse a MA licence, which is great. But are you sure that they do not require working experience in N.Y.?

I checked the BON Ma but could not find that information . I can not believe that it should be this easy....

I passed the TOEFL with 250 and TWE with 5.0. and looking forward to passing the TSE...

It must be by a certified translator, the only way that it will be accepted. Both by CGFNS, as well as NY.

Sorry.................... :balloons:

Oh, o.k.! This will be expensive.

thanks,

nutella

It really seems to be easier but not cheaper. I downloaded the licence registration for N.Y. (4 pages), the credit evaluation for N.Y. and the Visa screen stuff. Is that everything? I hope so. Oh and I will start the online courses required for N.Y. .

Today I will call somebody to translate my german licence and I will call the notary public .Unfortunately my daughter will be home by noon. I am so thankful that I do not have to do the CGFNS exam.

You have to do online courses for NY?

Kay the 2nd x :)

Yes, there are two. One on infection control, and one on abuse. They can both be done on-line and are listed right on the NY BON website. They are each about $15 US.

If you go to the website, and look at the training places, you can look at the ones that offer on-line training. You will find quite a large list right there.

Thanks

I think need to put some more money onto my credit card to pay for all these bits and bobs!!

I have to 5 compulsary courses for OGP and they recommend about 100 other ones!!!!

Suzanne I have lots of UK courses under my belt and was wondering if they count for anything over in US?

Kay the other one :)

As far as credit for anything, they won't help you that way.

But for increasing your knowledge, they are invaluable!

Thanks, sometimes I feel i have been studying all my life!!!! Which I probably have. Now I have passed NCLEX I have studying to do for my job here in UK because i can't sit doing nothing waiting to come to US which could take years, if the threads on here have anything to go by.

Kay, what are the compulsory courses you have to do? And have OGP stated why they are compulsory? I really thought once you'd passed NCLEX that was it for immigration purposes. I think you're getting a raw deal, it doesn't seem fair.

Tina

There are certain requirements that JCAHO has put forth for all nurses, so no matter who you are working for, they have to be done every year. They are short courses, or what I would call just a class, or something that you can do on-line or at home in just one hour.

One is on age-competencies, another fire safety just to give you a few exmaples.

Wouldn't worry about it.
