Ma Board " by reciprocity "

Published

Hello everybody (especially suzanne!),

another question.

I decided to go N.Y. for the initial licence. Suzanne, you told me, that I can endorse a MA licence, which is great. But are you sure that they do not require working experience in N.Y.?

I checked the BON Ma but could not find that information . I can not believe that it should be this easy....

I passed the TOEFL with 250 and TWE with 5.0. and looking forward to passing the TSE...

Hi! I think I may be able to help you on this one. My case is I'm going for CA license and want to endorse to MA. Yes, you won't be able to find the information you need on the MA BON, so I called them and found out that the endorsement process is managed by Predential Credential Services.

This is the website: http://www.pcshq.com/pcsweb/PCSCandPg.nsf/AED/f3659aee03e791d486256c4f006fe289?OpenDocument

You don't need to have work experience in N.Y, but I think you need to let CGFNS evaluate your transcripts, pass TOEFL with 250 (which you already have ^^). I think that's about it.

Hope these information would come in handy.

Good luck! Hope to see you in Boston!

Hello and thanks!

So I do not have to call them which is great . I mean they are friendly but this is much better.

Are you in Boston now? I live nearby and my favorite hospitals are Brigham and Womens, Mass Generall , perhaps Children`s. But there is still paperwork to do.

Yes~ I'm currently in Boston too. Did you pass NCLEX yet? I'm taking it on 2/11. I'm very nervous. Hope I can succeed. :uhoh3:

No, I just startet to get registered for all that stuff. Paperwork kills me....

I wish you good luck for your NCLEX!!!

The only thing that MA requires that is different from many of the other states is the TSE with a passign score.

Use the word "endorsement" when talking about getting an additional license in another state. Reciprocity is what we called it in the old days when each state gave their own exam, and depending on where you did your exam, and what your score was, would deem if you were able to get reciprocity or not.

The Canadians in the past were able to use reciprocity based on their Canadian exam to get licensure in the US but not anymore due to the Visa Screen requirement.

Hope that this helps explain things better for you. :)

Oh, thanks.

I could not find the "endorsement" information so I thought, "reciprocity" might be the same.

Funny that the MA Board is still calling it reciprocity but it is actually endorsement. That is the word that you will see used everywhere else.

You need to have a license in another state before you can apply for endorsement, or reciprocity as they call it. That is the easiest way to do it.

It really seems to be easier but not cheaper. I downloaded the licence registration for N.Y. (4 pages), the credit evaluation for N.Y. and the Visa screen stuff. Is that everything? I hope so. Oh and I will start the online courses required for N.Y. .

Today I will call somebody to translate my german licence and I will call the notary public .Unfortunately my daughter will be home by noon. I am so thankful that I do not have to do the CGFNS exam.

It isn't cheaper, but you have only the three applications to do and they will obtain all of the needed documents for you. Saves you alot of running aorund time.

Yes, you are right! I hope that this will save time.

Just another question regarding the visa screen: I have to get documents translated. Does it have to be a "certified" translator or is it o.k. to find just a translator and write the accuracy note? The real certified translators are more expensive...

Thanks,

nutella

It must be by a certified translator, the only way that it will be accepted. Both by CGFNS, as well as NY.

Sorry.................... :balloons:
