INTERNATIONAL NURSES ASSOCIATION- Is this legitimate or too good to be true?

Published

I just received a letter from the International Nurses Association. Has anyone ever heard of them? The letter says they are a "subsidiary of The International Association of HealthCare Professionals." I suspect that this is some attempt to get money from me. I am almost positive it is a scam, but before I go ahead and report it, I wanted to see if anyone else had received a similar letter or knew anything about INA or IAHCP. The link in the letter took me to a webpage asking for my specialty area, work phone #, email, and organization. This is what the letter said:

Is this a total SCAM?!

Thanks

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Anything that sounds too good to be true usually is. Nurse's week isn't until May...

Specializes in Med/Surg, Ortho, ASC.

Reminds me of the old Who's Who in ...(insert high school, college, profession, etc.)... letters that used to come out. They may still be around, for all I know. The flowery flattery convinced many a sucker to sign up to be in the book, and then of course wanted to buy the book (and copies for proud Moms, Dads, Aunts & Uncles) in order to see their names in print.

Who are you going to report it to?

I have received this letter and gave work number and mobile phone # . Thanks to these informational notes I will be forewarned not to relay any further info or monies.

Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

I got a letter identical to this in the mail today. The dates are also exactly the same. From searching the web all I can find is their website and multiple scam alerts. This is defiantly a scam. I will not send them any info!

I have the same situation. I got something from the mail that I was nominated to be published in a magazine. I tried responding back to them and bottom line..... they want you to purchase their Diamond Program which cost $789.00; or the Platinum Program which is $589.00; or the Gold Program which is $389.00 and then the least program they offered me was the Associate Program which is $189.00. All of these programs first she said are one-time payment but the representative I spoke with wanted me to make the purchase immediately, telling me that we cannot go back and forth because of the publication schedules and dates. When I said I can't pay any of these programs she told me that payments can be deferred. She even told me that she will take care of the first month payment and I will just have to pay the deferred amount of $34.00 every month which can be cancelled anytime without any cancellation fees so they can go over and publish my achievements as a nurse. I didn't make any purchase and tried to end the phone conversation politely.

So, what do you think??? Is it a scam or not? I believe this a another form of a marketing scam. It's like you will have to pay for your story to be published. I really thought I am getting some recognition but instead, they just want to suck your money.
