a friend of mine is a graphic designer and was asked to make some logos for this persons website. she sent it to me because she thought it was strange and probably illegal.. i was shocked!
apparently this person is convincing non diabetics to inject insulin in an effort to prevent diabetes and stop the effects of aging.. i may only be a student but I am pretty certain injecting insulin when its not needed can be lethal.
not to mention this whack blood glucose scale they are using:
> 200 mg/dlSUICIDAL
180 mg/dlDEATHLY
160 mg/dlHORRIBLE
140 mg/dlTERRIBLE
120 mg/dlBAD
110 mg/dlVERY HIGH
100 mg/dlHIGH
70 to 85 mg/dlOPTIMAL
55 to 69 mg/dlLOW
also i have no idea how they linked it to aging..
anyway i was really disturbed when i saw this and though i would post it and see what people's opinions were on here.. this person is NOT a doctor and is giving dangerous medical advice.. i havent read the entire page in detail, but it seems like they are encouraging people to buy insulin from mexico or something?!
there is an address at the bottom of the page, is there a way to report someone like this? its just very bizarre to me.
heres the page: http://www.rajeun.net/usinginsulin.html
btw, the graphic they wanted for he page was a wizard holding a syringe and a vial of insulin..
Even if this guy was in the US, there's nothing the FDA would do, same for the DEA which has absolutely no interest in insulin. The FDA can approve drugs, place warnings on drugs, and rescind approval, but they can't police how a drug is used, only how it is marketed. As long as this guy isn't actually selling insulin, it out of the FDA's jurisdiction.
That is a very narrow scale for acceptable sugars. 70-85? Ridiculous... Now my floor does give insulin to non-diabetics after heart surgery (the POD 1 and 2 BG's have to be below 150 for us to get reimbursed). However the sliding scale doesn't even start until 150-160 for most people, although they will get a baseline. We also have standing orders for D50 just in case...

This isn't anybody with any medical knowledge...it's a con-artist playing with the vulnerable (if not a bit out of touch) people who are lining up to keep from aging. He'll kill someone.
you can buy insulin otc in some states??
Yes. Actually, it's 'behind the counter'....you have to ask the pharmacist- it's not on a shelf.
Depending on the state (there's a website with the list) people can buy a vial of regular and/or NPH- it's meant to not cause harm to people who may be traveling (though I don't think they even check IDs since it's not mood altering).
Different states also have syringe limits- some allow people to buy 10 at a time; others don't have limits. I have a rx for my supplies, but if I want to get some 1/2 cc syringes to get the last drops out of my NovoLog pens, I just call the place and ask them to mail them to me...no problem... But I do have a prescription if I'd (for whatever reason) need to show it here...It's illegal to have more than 10 syringes in IL w/o a current rx.
Insulin isn't a high abuse drug :), and the potential harm for someone to not get it is greater than the risk of selling it. :)
Well, if he keeps it up with the self-administered insulin he'll be dead soon, so problem solved.
Unfortunately, it's likely that even he doesn't believe this hogwash, and even he doesn't use that system, he's just out to bilk an unsuspecting public.
This reminds me of Suzanne Sommer's anti-aging program that consists of ingesting mass quantities of hormones and slathering estrogen cream all over her body.

There's a reason my pharmacology instructor told me that the absolutely most dangerous drug I would encounter as a nurse is insulin.
What a crazy individual.
