Thought this was an appropriate forum, since the accused was an RN from

Indianapolis.

This story has been heavy on my heart every since it happened. This family lived

just yards away from the facility in which I work, and two of the child's grandmothers,

and one aunt, actually worked here at the time. One grandmother still works here.

I fortunately did not work here yet at the time and therefore was not here the

night that he was brought into our ER with his injuries.

I did not know this family at the time of the tragic event, yet I cried off

and on for days and days. Having a young boy myself, I of course could

not stop thinking, this could have happened to ANYONE.

The family of course was wanting the man found guilty of murder and

sentenced to death; however apparently the jury could not find enough

evidence to refute the defense's claim that the man was insane at the

time of the crime.

I just... feel so bad for the family. I of course have from day one.

He is licensed in Indiana. It shows he's a registered nurse and his license status is "Emergency Suspension."

It's a very sad situation.

Thanks. It appears he was placed under suspension in July of 2016, despite being charged with murder in December of 2015.

Being found innocent due to being criminally insane is pretty impressive for someone who prior to that was able to maintain a nursing license. Being criminally insane is a lot more severe than being just insane in general, I'm pretty amazed that despite any ability to differentiate right from wrong, which is the definition of criminally insane, that he was a registered nurse.

The whole tragedy has boggled my mind from the very beginning.

The family wanted justice, the family wanted this man found guilty of first

degree murder... I certainly understand that...

But WHERE was his motive to walk into this house that he didn't know,

in a town where he didn't live.. and murder a six year old child? There

are still so many missing pieces that we haven't heard.

I've said all along though... this man HAD to have suffered some kind of

major mental breakdown.

Part of the prosecution's argument, was that he had taken some sort of

synthetic drug that caused him to act out in this way; thus he should be

found guilty. Apparently there wasn't any evidence, or enough evidence,

that he was high at the time of the murder.

I live in KY, just like Nursecard, and live just a town over from where this incident took place. I remember quite clearly when it happened.

From the start, it was all very strange. It was as if the killer singled-out this one, particular child (there were other children and two adults in the home at the time of the murder).

As Nursecard pointed out: Why did the killer choose this home, and why this child, given he could have attacked a number of others in the home. And he wasn't armed with a gun, so it took far more effort to kill his victim.

Sometimes you never know why someone snaps. We had a RN awhile back who killed a coworker at the bus station, killed a man that tired to help her and than went to a home of another coworker and killed her and her husband while the children were in the house. He held them hostage for awhile before killing them. He grew up and was a friend of my husband. They had lost touch for a few years. He said he never thought he would do something like that. We think he snapped after getting accused of sexual harassment while he was a supervisor.
