Indiana State University BSN Thread for Current Students

Published

moderator note: this is a continuation of a previous thread that was very long and split by member request. this thread is primarily for current student discussion. there is another thread of faq: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/isu-faq-thread-365878.html

we had to take micro, stats, math, biology, couple of humanities, etc, etc. maybe she meant that's just the one specific to nursing, as in in addition to the rest of the gen eds? anyway, good luck on both your applications!

@ Riverside CA Thank you very much. I will get intouch. Hearing from someone who is actually there will give me a piece of mind. I think that the intitial explanation is not too clear and that causes many to get nervous but all in all I am sure it must be a good program fin order or CA to approve it. Thanks again and I will e-mail you shortly.

How is everyone doing on their road to starting the program? I've got one more CSM to do and am finishing Chemistry and my PC course. I will be applying for Fall 2010. Anyone going to be with me?

Kylea-

I am working on my 2nd challenge exam & taking Chemistry as well. I have a previous bachelors degree which covers all the other non nursing courses. I am hoping to get into the program in August!

Do you have any advice you could give on the Nursing 224 Challenge exam? I hope to take it next week but there is a lot of material in the CSM so I'm just not 100% comfortable with it yet.

Thanks!!

Ok, has any one actually gotten thru this program??? Is it a safe program with no gimmicks? How long does it take? Does it accept nrs classes from other colleges ? Thanks!!

riderd- Is 224 Mother and child? If it is (and I honestly cannot remember which number is what anymore!?!?!) I had JUST had my baby when I took it, so I was fairly familiar with the information. I did the study questions in the CSM and scored around 85% with that info and passed the test on the first try. I of course lost the book about a week before my exam, so I know I could have done better, but honestly with everything on my plate right now, I don't care if I score perfectly on a challenge exam; a pass is a pass. Now once the actual nursing classes start, it's on :)

Mrs leese- to answer the question about it being safe; I have not had any issues with it so far. Talk to Chaxanmom (I think that is the right spelling of the name) she is almost done with the program if not finished by now. To find out if other nursing classes transfer you would need to talk to ISU to find out.

Thank you!!

How do I get a hold of Chaxanmom?

She's in this thread; I recommend scrolling through. When you find her name you can click and go to her page. Then you can write her a message to ask specific questions.

Kylea - the unit I am currently studying is care of the adult.

I still have Mother baby and peds to do but I'm pretty comfortable

with those subjects since I have 3 little kids :)

riderd-

I am working on adult right now.....and by working on, I mean it's sitting on my desk and I look at the cover and think about opening it :)

I have a CD review that I used for LPN boards and I will be using that as well. The online review that TCN offers is pretty helpful too. The peds test had some of the same questions from the review. Not many but a few. But it kind of helps you know what you need to focus on.

Congrats your almost there!!! Do u like the program? Would love to talk to you about it... Thanks

Kylea

When you mentioned the online questions TCN had were similar, are you taking about the practice questions they have listed in the modules or is there some type of practice quiz they offer?

Thanks a million for all the info!!!!!:p

I use those and I also use the college network's resource center. They have all the modules you purchased on there with two sets of review questions.

Not sure if it is open to everyone yet or not. I think it should be as long as you purchased your materials from TCN
