moderator note: this is a continuation of a previous thread that was very long and split by member request. this thread is primarily for current student discussion. there is another thread of faq: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/isu-faq-thread-365878.html
we had to take micro, stats, math, biology, couple of humanities, etc, etc. maybe she meant that's just the one specific to nursing, as in in addition to the rest of the gen eds? anyway, good luck on both your applications!
Hi,
You will have to take and pass all 4 tests and pass a TEAS Test by June 1st for a Fall acceptance. You must also have the required Phase 1 prereq as well. They are ENG 107 or equivalent, Psy 101, Chem 100 with a lab, Comm 101, Math 111 or higher and A&P 1&2.

Hi Brenda,
Thank you for the information, I'm pretty sure I have all the prerequisites and general education for the program except Statistics, which I'm taking in the spring at the JC. I already hold a bachelors degree so I have a lot of general education (lower & upper division) in different areas. Can we challenge the CSM exams before we're formally accepted into the Spring or Summer semesters? I know we wont be accepted into the nursing program until we pass the exams and are enrolled in the university.
Yes you can. First apply to ISU as a general student. Once you get accepted, you get a Student ID#. Once you have that number you will be able to register for the 4 challenge exams. I took 4 weeks per test and passed all within a 4 month period. That should be in plenty of time to apply to the School of Nursing by June 1st!

NurseCubanitaRN2b: Thank you! Yes we are both in the same boat. I have to get back on study mode again for the challenge exams and TEAS. I'm going to start studying for NURS 106 Mental Health Aspects of Nursing Practice.
adnerbe1: Thank you for sharing that piece of information. I completely forgot about the TEAS. I really need to get in touch with someone from ISU so that there are no surprises.
Is there anyway to get intouch with you? I want to talk to somone who has been thru or is going thru this program. I chose not to listen to the negative comments and just be poitive about it but I just want to know what to do or if there are others who want to study or just give each other a boost
How is/ did the ISU program go? Is there anyway you can e-mail me to tell me more about this program? I just started and my heart is im my mouth not knowing what to do or expect. I have to test out on the 4 CMS courses and take the TEAS
I have nothing bad to say about ISU's online program. I am in my senior year and will graduate in Dec of this year. For the TEAS, just use a nursing entrance exam book that you can get at Barnes & Noble or Amazon, etc. It's not that bad at all!! Once you have taken the 4 CSMs, which are not bad, you can apply to the nursing program and start your journey. If you study the nursing modules, including the review test, you will pass the tests. Hope this helps.

I'm also in Northern California. Congratulations on your NCLEX-PN exam. Just wait for your letter in the mail. I have the same goal as you do. Doing the challenge exams and then entering Phase III Fall 2010, but I'm unsure if that's going to be possible as you have to do the CSM modules beore Fall 2010, and I think you might need to be admitted for the Spring Semester already. Unsure, maybe someone can shed us some light.
