Indiana State University BSN students

Published

Here's a new sticky for students involved in online/distance BSN programs through Indiana State University. Enjoy!

It was definitely a tough exam! I got an A too but I was sweating and praying the whole time! lol! Its one of those tests where the knowledge you gained is what you use to figure out the answer and you aren't tested on just the answer itself. I think EC tests are really tough all around though.

Ok my first test ...Patho..I got an A !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

let's be honest, I knew the TCN study guide really well, I mean I got 99% on the practice test in the back but it was harder, a lot harder than TCN. I think it felt alot like people describe how my NCLEX will be . You feel sort of shell shocked, like this stuff was never in the books, you keep looking for the questions like you were expecting. An example, TCN gives you all kinds of questions like , the top two sign/symptoms of the disease and then you get to pick out of the 4 options which disease it is, its straight memory. There were almost none of those, they gave you a list of lab results, or a diagnosis and then 4 answers each with 3 symptoms on it and you pick which symptoms they would have. Things were just vague not so cut and dry easy like TCN lots of critical thinking. 10% of it wasn't in the book at all, I felt unsure about 20% of the answers. I'm just not use to the feeling of seeing a question straight out of left field, things I've never seen before. Honestly TCN was good but I probably could have just found the textbook that Excelisor used and done it that way.

But it worked, I got an A. Happy to just be on my journey. I'm doing Life span Devel next.

Congratulations to you on passing pathopump%20iron.GIF

Thanks for sharing. I kinda figure it would not be as described by the sales person, not that I mean he tried to mislead me, lets just say I didn't believe the questions at the back of the module would suffice, it didn't in NS didn't really think it would be any different with these tests. That's why the "guaranteed to pass" thing is questionable IMO.

Good luck with Life Span Devel. You can do it!

When I took the class in my cc about 2 years ago, I found most of the topics to be pure memorization. Specially with the developmental stages, kinda of like peds topics mix with pschycology.

Hi Chelle. I just got accepted for Spring 08 and I'm waiting on Kim to set up my registration for the transition class. I'm working on my phase 2 modules now and I'm planning on testing on all 4 next month.

I thought I had already replied to this but I don't see my post so here goes again....

What do you mean by your phase 2 modules....do you mean the 4 courses you can test out of (106, 224, 328, 330) I have taken 106 and it was hard...I had to take it twice. Kim Cook is awesome and so helpful when you call her. What test materials are you using for the tests you are taking next month?

Yeah the 4 that you test out of. I'm using the College Network modules for those. I got registered today and I'm taking the transition course and health assessment (I think that's 301?).

Are the TCN modules really needed for that phase or is it just like the other can you get away with other books to study from. I have not seen those modules on ebay anywhere ( don't even know the names of the modules) and even though its a ways off for me I'm not sure about the 2500 price tag for them, not to mention I'm sure the price may jump up before I get to them.

That's what I'm wondering. I talked to a guy at ISU awhile back who said that was the only way to test out of those courses but now I'm wondering since I read Chelle's post. I got mine through a special TCN was running so I got all 4 for $1000. I already told a girl on here I'd offer mine to her when I'm done. I can keep you in mind in case she changes her mind. Just FYI though, I highlight like crazy, I fill in the study questions and I make myself notes in the margins so they are very well used and definitely won't be in new condition.
