In-home NP Medicare Assessments

I have seen several job postings for these type of positions. I am interested in the position because it sounds like there is a good amount of flexibility.

Does anyone have experience doing them? What exactly does the visit entail? Did you enjoy it? What did you think of the salary? Thanks!

Could you PM me info on how to find these type of jobs?

No PM necessary. Just look on United Healthcare's website. Good luck!

Hello FNP2B1

I realize its been over a year since this post but if you or anyone else wouldn't mind listing the company the have been with for home health assessments that they thought were good pay/experience. I have found United Health care seems to be a big employer in this, however they are not currently listing anything for my area (central florida).

Thanks

Sorry for the delayed reply-I usually get notification about a message but somehow didn't this time. I work for a company called Univita and in general, I don't mind being an IC except that I am paid per visit and if patients cancel their visits, I am out of luck paywise. I am at the mercy of the scheduling team--if they get visits scheduled, I'm ok but if not...it hits me in the wallet. I usually do my own taxes. I keep track of my mileage and able to deduct that amount as I do not get reimbursed for it by my company :(. So if you are really looking to do this work (which is not difficult but also not very challenging), I would recommend finding a company that offers a salaried position. That way you know you will have a steady income. I know United Health Care offers salaried positions for this work.

Good luck and please don't hesitate to write back if you have any other questions :)

Hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving :)

Do they hire new grads? I'm very interested in this kind of work?

Emsi out of Texas hired me as a new grad... I was only graduated for 2 weeks.. I'm in Missouri is any one here in Mo? I have a question, the company says i don't need a collaborative.

I called Megan at the BON and it sounds like I don't but I'm not sure. My first visit is scheduled in 4 hours, gulp!

Hello fellow NP's Yes, These chronic care assessment jobs can be good, but usually all companies will promise 6 mos or more of work and only have about 1-2, so be careful and don't quit a good job for this.

SCAM ALERT:

do not work for this company - CALIFORNIA HOUSE CALL DOCTORS and Dr. ********* (btw, he is a PhD, not an MD)

they are not paying their NP's and LPN's. He pays as little as he can to keep you on the hook, hoping you will get another paycheck.

He hires more nurses after they realize they aren't getting paid and quit.

I am in Florida, but I have seen his ads in CA, and they may be in other states as well.

He may send you an email directly, so beware.

Unfortunately, many of us got suckered in because this Company is affiliated with reputable Physicians offices

through Wellmed and other legitimate healthcare groups.

I don't know why they did not check into this company before contracting with him to hire NP's.

We told Wellmed here in Florida, but since their contract is with him, there isn't much they can do for us.

Thanks... I was told if I seen more than 20 pts a week I world get $120 a visit or under 20/ week I'd get $100 a visit.. I signed up for 12 hours each sat and Sunday. So far I've gotten one visit.. Not complaining today was my first time, I loved the not rushed visit. Time to review his data as he had just visited the doctor in the last 2 weeks. Talk about health, diet, advance directives ect.

Hi

Yes, I love doing the assessment. I have been doing mostly in home assessments since April and I love meeting people and

being able to answer their questions and make sure they are being taken care of.

There seems to be a lot of money to be made doing these assessments, but so far it seems that the companies that are

in charge of doing them are erratic at best.

My patient refused the urinalysis. Saying he had just went.... Hope that don't get me any issues. He was just at the doctor in November and has a spring appointment set up... He's there every 6 months and had papers to prove it.. All the visits were in his folder.

How much can you make per year doing in-home assessements? And, do companies reimburse for gas, mileage, etc?

It just depends on how much or how little you want to do. Per diem will bring in anywhere from 70-100 per assessment. If you go all out and see patients daily you can make quite a bit. I can't imagine really doing it full-time...I would totally miss patient care in my office. On a part-time basis I calculate I will make about 30-40K (and that's 12 hrs a week) and yes, mileage and gas is reimbursed.
