  1. Hello Buggysmom I am an FNP and I am looking at getting my post masters certificate in PMHNP. I am applying to UC Cincinnati and possibly EKU depending on the start schedule. It seem that you have had a good experience with the program? Is the online coursework asynchronous or do you have to log on at certain times for lectures or other assignments? Did you have to make any visits to the campus? I am in Texas right now so one of the things I am looking for is not having to go often or at all which I believe Vanderbilt and South Carolina seem to want require more visits. UC Cincinnati just has two days during the first semester. Thank you and good luck
  2. I really appreciate all the posts on here regarding the exam and wanted to give my feedback as well. Just took my AANP exam and passed it. I had both Fitzpatrick and Hollier (APEA) CDs. I listened to both in their entirety but found myself going back and using APEA more. I preferred her style and the accompanying handbook. I also found the Leik book to be excellent as well as the Fitzgerald Cert Exam book. I took two practice test with AANP first time 69, second time 74 about three weeks apart. They seemed similar. I also took two APEA test and scored in the low 70s. It was suggested to me by a classmate who had recently passed the AANP as well to use AANP-FNP(dot)com website for practice tests. I found them to be really good and similar to the test. They give an explanation as well unlike the AANP ones. It is also cheaper, $50 for 5 tests (100 questions) vs $50 for one (75 questions). I scored 67, 69, 71, 71 and 74 on these. I was nervous that I was not scoring higher but really felt burnt out and just wanted to take the test and give it a shot. One thing to point out, not that anyone wants to fail but you can only take the AANP exam twice in a CALENDAR year (Jan 1 to Dec 31) according to their website so I figured if I did fail I could take it again before December. All the topics that have been pointed out above are the same ones I had on my exam. GOOD LUCK!!!
  3. Hello FNP2B1 I realize its been over a year since this post but if you or anyone else wouldn't mind listing the company the have been with for home health assessments that they thought were good pay/experience. I have found United Health care seems to be a big employer in this, however they are not currently listing anything for my area (central florida). Thanks
  4. Hello Just got accepted to 2011 DNP at UCF, FNP track, anyone have any input or advice? Things they would have liked to have known before hand. How is the program? With regards to clinicals are you able yo do any in the hospital setting, fast track ED? I work at ORMC so I was hoping to be able to profit somewhat from the connections there with the NP/PA/MD/DO and precept with some. Are you allowed to do extra clinicals? Finally how were your core science courses? Thanks
  5. It's not actually a hit..just an inquiry. Its listed on your credit report under Inquires with other credit checks from credit cards or car loans etc. It shows up all caps HRSA along with other letters, which I don't recall right now.
  6. nothing yet...except the hit on my credit like some other people. this is probably worst than waiting for the acceptance letters.. good luck
  7. I went on my UM and looked under awards. I'll let you know.
  8. I was approved for x amount then they wait for the school to certify that you are attending and costs and what not, they (UM) cerified me for less than half that. So that combined with stafford pays my tuition but not much else. I thought somehow the tuition was already taken out or something but when I went on the sallie mae site it showed the approved amount and then the certified amount. I am talking with someone to find out how to get it raised bc without it I cant go. Sorry if I cause any worry, have you called the financial aid office?
  9. Hi K.rdondo I had to call several times to find out about the shoes. I got the firt email but did not get the second one until today. They asked if i was recently accepted, but I was accepted begining of January. Jes as far as financial aid I got my award amount but it is just enough to pay for tuition and books. I applied for a got a sallie mae signature loan ontop of stafford, but UM certified less than half the amount I was approved for. I have no idea how they expect someone to pay for school and have nothing to live with. Its pretty crazy..on the website UM lists cost of books for two semesters at $1200.00, thats impossible that 600.00 can cover a semester of books, at least not anybody taking science or math courses. Good luck.
  10. sorry i just reread your post about financial aid. I guess you were referring to pell grants and such. good luck the same
  11. You are right it is BS. I double checked today with Ms. Sanchez and she confirmed it. You would think they would consider the class as a whole. But with regards to financial aid you can get stafford loans for a second bachelors. The limit is $12,500.00 per year with a total of 23k. So the way I was explained summer is the 2008-2009 year and fall and spring are 2009-2010 so I would think you could get a total of 19k. anyways good luck and hope you still go.
  12. I got declined for FAU but got accepted for UM. No letter from UF as of today....anyone else?
  13. THanks Frogger15 I applied to all three and also UM. I was accepted to UM but just found out the chemistry I am taking CHM 1025 doesnt count, so not sure what to do about that. They wanted 1045. I got an email from Kenneth Foote at UF saying that the letters would be sometime end of Feb beginning of March. I am trying to be patient but thought I would ping the water and see if anyone heard already. Good luck. I wish I would have done better on the GRE for UF but too late now.
  14. Hello Thanks for the info. How has the program been? I know it is intense but doable. At the information session they almost seemed to try to weed people out form apllying by saying how hard it would be. Could I ask you want your weekly schedule has been like? Thank you
  15. Hello I just registered but have been using this site for the past year while I finish my prereqs for an accelerated BSN. I have found it to be very useful. Just wanted to see if anyone heard from UCF, FAU or UF for the summer 2009 ABSN. I emailed Ms. Brooks at FAU and she told me mid February letters would start going out. I posted as well in the Florida section. Good Luck. Thanks for all the info
