HI!i'm bound for canada next year through immigrant visa.My choice of destination is BC. You're saying economy is not good in canada and jobs are not that in demand for nurses. are you suggesting that before i land in canada,i should have an employer? i'm hell worried with all the stories here about IEN and to be honest it scares me a lot.please give me some tips on what to do..thank you.
That is what I'm suggesting. Before you relocate anywhere, it's best to have a job. Most Provinces prefer to hire locals first, unless you are coming with prior experience or a specialty. I wouldn't recommend anyone just move. You could be waiting for a job for months otherwise, and many of them are casual or part time to start.
Canadian health regions typically don't use agencies to head-hunt for them but HealthMatchBC is legitimate. Having said that, I'll reiterate what people have been saying repeatedly on this forum and the International one (where this is moving as soon as I'm finished): IENs are having a very hard time finding work in virtually ALL parts of Canada at the present time but most expecially in the popular-with-immigrants areas of BC, Alberta, and Ontario. Employers are hiring locally and there's no shortage of newly-graduated Canadian nurses job-hunting.
