Immigration Issues That You Need To Be Aware Of

World Immigration

Updated:   Published

please read this closely:

1. the green card will not keep you from getting deported if you break the law in the us, something as simple as a dui can get you deported.

2. a visa out of status for any reason can get you deported. you get stopped for a traffic ticket, and out of status, do not pass go, and you will go to immigration detention.

3. a ssn# that is not a legal number will also get you deported. they are verifying them when you apply for a license.

4. does not matter if you have family, own a home, and a car, and even a business, if you get deported, you will be out of the country shortly, immigration does not care.

right now, ins is in a surge mode to pick up anyone that they find illegal in the us, for what ever reason..........please do not let this happen to you.

in california, they actually have immigration stops set up, and they are picking up people in large numbers. does not matter which country that you are from, how long that you have been in the us, etc. if you do not have a legal document permitting you to be in the us, you will be gone.

please be very careful. and all of the above also goes to nurses that have overstayed visas, immigration does not care. and if you get deported, it will be ten years before you will be able to return.

------

after consulting with multiple immigration attorneys, it is not expected that any special visas for nurses will be available until the congress and the house of representatives create new visas, and not until later in the year. there will not be any schedule a visas appearing in the januray bulletin of the uscis until they become available. right now, there is no preference....strictly on where you were born.. if your country does not use up its allotment, then you will be able to get a visa earlier, otherwise all will be waiting. no special cicumstances apply here.

without having us citizenship, you do not have the same rights as far as immigration. scary, but it is true.

OHHH too bad, I see! Thank you for your advise. I may have to return home then. :( or maybe go to Canada.

To go to Canada you are still going to have to meet all their requirements (differs from province to province) You also need a medical before you can work, is not quick, can take months before getting permission you can work (work permit) and then you will need to pass their nursing exam CRNE which is held only 3 times a year in Canada

Unless you part of the underground economy you can't work in the USA.

Recently every position I have show proof of American citizenship, no proof no job.

Employers pay heavy fines for not having proper documentation.

I just read the Wall Street Journal, all employers will have e-verify

hi everyone! im just new here and i would like to get some advice about visas. im already waiting for my Packet 4 but we all know that there's a recession and i dont know when will i get my immigration visa. but my fiance said that he will apply for a fiance visa next year if i still dont have my immigration visa this year. he's from Virginia. Is that possible even if i have an ongoing immigrant visa application? will i have any problems? My employer from US who processed my immigrant visa said that they will assist me in getting my fiance visa. I a bit confused whether i'll take it because im thinking that my immigrant visa application might kick in while applying for my fiance visa  . my PD date is Mar 06 by the way. thanks for your time and your advise will be highly appreciated!:D

Welcome to the site

There is no telling how long it will take but definitely quicker to get fiancée visa, be aware though it will still take a few months after arriving in the US after getting married before you can work. Your fiancée needs to do the paperwork and will not impact on your immigrant visa, you just need to cancel whichever one needs cancelling once you get the other

thanks Silverdragon102! I really appreciate your advice. More blessings to you and your family. :D

You are welcome and keep us posted on how it goes

Will do. Thanks again! :D

Immigration is very very gray area in USA.

Seems like if you come to USA via plane then INS try to follow all the rules.

If you try to come across the border by car or foot then they tend to turn a shy eye if you get caught. A lot of times they just decline entry and do not impose any penalty.

In my city last year the local police were turning over illegal aliens to INS (Actually there was INS officer with a office at our local police department) if they were arrested and had no papers.

After turning over a lot of illegals, the INS told our local police department to stop turning over Illegals unless they had a felony.

Immigration in USA has no ryhme of reason.

Even if you do a boarder crossing by land, a nurse won't be able to find legal employment as a nurse. So I don't get your point.

The laws are clear it is the enforcement that is not uniform. But hospitals that depend on Federal and State money have to comply with the law.
