Immigrant Nurses

Published

I have lurked on these message boards for a tad too long. i joined to add my voice.

You can imagine my utter surprise when i see a sudden sprouting of posts claiming that the root cause of the registered nursing problem is immigrants.

i took my undergrad/graduate level studies in the united states and i would constantly be told to 'go back where you came from, there are no jobs for you'

Do nurses think they are special? there are thousands of people immigrating in all the healthcare fields daily.

Immigration is a worldwide phenomenon.

the united states in not special. if they are to compete in the world economy (not that they are doing a great job of that anyway) they have to let a certain number of skilled workers migrate.

open your eyes.

these are not illegal immigrants jumping fences near texas.

these are skilled individuals with a bachelors degree/or higher in the same field that you are getting associates degrees in.

Education always wins.

raise you entry point to a BSN and then you can complain about people taking your jobs,

I still love your beautiful country and i cannot wait to visit on vacation,

OP your attitude sucks and you really need to get over yourself. You and other nurses from your country are not recruited to work in the US because of your bachelors degree or because you are somehow superior to American nurses, you are brought here most of the time because you are willing to work for far less money than American nurses.

I do not know where you get off thinking that your bachelors degree is worth gold in the US. There are many American nurses with bachelors degrees and graduate degrees. Your hostility towards American nurses is completely unnecessary.

I'm noticing that we are all getting heated up over this, but OP suddenly has no opinion and is not participating in the discussion. Me thinks it's another attempt to stir up an old argument by somebody who has nothing better to do on this beautiful day. Can y'all say troll with me and leave it at that.

I have a bsn and it was difficult to find a job. Look up Japan and their views on immigration. Japan is a VERY strong global power.............................

We don't need skilled workers brought into this country because our citizens and resident aliens are already skilled. What we don't have--and what we shouldn't give away via work visas--are jobs.

Has anyone tried talking to a doctor?

I have a hard time understanding people with a thick accent from the states.... and people with aphasia.

Sounds like we need a 1 world language, currency and government.... just wait, the time will come. I'm not sure why I am even posting here... I just found this silly. Not so worried about legal immigrants, more worried about nursing mills.... and insurance premiums.
