im really really worried, need some advice please.............

i'm 11 weeks pregnant and have developed a swelling under my arm, there is not really a lump. It is tender sometimes. My dr checked it out and didnt know what it was. He said he didnt think it was anything nasty but to keep an eye on it. i have to go back in just over a week and he said if it has not gone by then he will refer me to a surgeon. Im so scared. :o I'm not too well with this pregnancy....vomiting alot, but im really worried about this swelling. It hasnt gone . i was wondering if it is something to do with being pregnant. Hope someone can advise me please.

just got back after having a scan they said i have a 'popped' lymph gland. Never heard of that before. thats why its swollen and tender. This could be caused cos i'm pregnant. It was such a relief i could have kissed the doc :chuckle

Hooray!!!! I've been thinking about you and your appt this morning. Soooo glad everything's OK. Several years back during a routine mammo they 'found something'.....after so much stress/tests, etc. (you know!) turned out to be a lymph node as well. Whew. Now you can relax!!! Best wishes. Sue :)

do you, or did you, drink alot of caffine? a nurse drink caffine? isn't that unheard of? l.o.l. i know caffine can cause glands in your breasts and underarm areas to swell or cause cysts. have you tried ice?

Isn't it "funny" how we tell our pts or res not to worry about things until all the results are in, but when it comes to our own body we automatically think the worse. Glad everything turned out like it did for you.

i'm not a big caffeine drinker...........never touch coffee dont like it, dont drink cola, drink moderate amounts of tea, drink squash and fizzy drinks. I've been told that pregnant women should reduce their intake of caffeine as it not good for baby. i havent tried ice. has anyone heard of a 'popped' lymph gland before?

Yes, I had one in my leg last fall, evidently I had a gland in my groin to pop and my whole leg filled up with fluid, was rather scary, but cleared up with no treatment except rest and elevation!!!
